ABSTRACT: The flowsheet for producing K through the medium ot a K- PI) alloy
includes electrolytic production of -lie alloy and distillatior of the K
therefrom. A study is made of the distitlation of K from hr'loys con--
taining - 6-130/o K. Conditions of distillation permitting reduction
in K content to 0. 1 -0, 4% are recommended. as follows- Tempera
tures 630--6800 C, residUal pressure 0 04 1.5 rnrn fig, R is noted
that condensation of K on it watei cooled (- ridenser occurs ir the
200-3000 interval, it is observed that the pt~)cess rate is deter
mined by the size of the surface of evaporaEion; within certain
limits, the thickness of the alloy layer is not oi decisive signifi-
cance owing to the natural turbulence within. the alloy which is caused
by the reduction in specific gravity its the concentration of alloy
