ABSTRACT: On 22 - 27 May 1957 the Committee for Determining the Ab-
solute Age of Geologic Formations convened at Sverdlovsk.
More than 200 scientists from different Academies of Sciences
of the USSR participated, whereby 43 lectures were held. It
was decided at the session to expand the work to the Urals
and other territories, and to improve the already known radio-
active methods for determining the absolute age. The con-
ference heard the following reports after D.I. Shcherbakov
had opened the session: 1. L.N. Ovchinikov, A.S. Shur, M-V.

.duction bearing to another. This system of rapid changeover was devised by the
principal designer of the Factory, A. A. Sigodzinskiy. His new system for grouped
automatic. lines for the grinding of the outer roller races of tapered bearings affords
,flexibility to the production and the feasibility of a partial changeover of separate-

groups of machines without interfering with the functioning of the line and of the
remaining equipment. The designers of the Factory spent considerable time .in co-
operation with the Moscow Higher Technical School imeni Bauman and the Lvov
Polytechnic Institute in the design of vibrational equipment for grinding machines.
An entire series of vibrators for various operations was produced. Automatic
heating equipment for bearing races for centerless machines was developed. The
Factory -developed the 'design of an electromechanical servoequipment in conjunction
with the Moscow Power Institute. The plant stands matchless among all comparable
plants in the USSR .and abroa@. Evenin.the automated factories of the USA and in
England the assembly of bearings is not automatized as it is in the First State
Bearing Factory. The following new technological processes have been developed:
(1) The grinding of the faces of external and internal races on two-sided face-
grinder autom@ts of the type 6C145 (6S145); (Z) the grinding of the external cylin-
drical surface od the centerless circular grinder-automat model 6GI33 (6S133) and
6C 13 6 (6S 13 6); (3) the us e of automatic cente rle s s grinde rs and inte rnal grinde rs
with a centeriess clamping of the races to be ground; the specific improvements in
accuracy obtained by the new equipment:,are listed; (4) the use of grinder-automats
of the model 6C137 (6S137) in the preliminary grinding of the inner races of bearings
and the simultaneous pindings of two rings, thereby increasing the productivit by
60-7016; (5) the. simultaneous rough. and sernifinal grinding of the oute

time on hydrogen absorption by IQKhgSIJ steel during chrome plating In a sulfuric acid
electrolyte was Investigated. Plasticity data showed that as the temperature rises
and the current density decreases, the hydrogen absorption Increases. It is postu-
lated that an important factor influencing hydrogen absorption during chrome plating
is the formation of chromium hydrides. Conditions promoting the formation of chromium
hydride and hence an Increase In the hydrogen content of the coating lead to a reduc-
tion of hydrogen hydrogen absorption by the steel. As the chrome plating time
Increases, so does the hydrogen absorption; the dependence of the decrease In plastic-
Ity, which characterizes 6P degree of hydrogen absorption by the steel, on the chrome
plating time Is close to parabolic In character. This suggests that the decrease In
plasticity is determined by the hydrogen concentration In th* surface layer of the

bursts in equipment for meteoric radiotelegraphy is based on the repetition at the
beginning of eech transmission of the code combinations transmitted at the end of
the preceding transmission. In order to reduce the distortions at the end of the
bursts, the transmitted code combinations are counted at the transmitting end, and thi
correctly received codq combinations are counted at the receiving end of the system.
At the beginnitg of each burst, the last digit of the number of the transmitted com-
binations is. transmitted and compared at the receiving end with the last digit of the
number of correctly received combinations, establishing the number of the code com-
bination with which to begin reception.

ABSTRACT: A discrete synchronization system for radiotelegraph communication with a
telegraphy rate up to 6000 baud, in which the correction of =e output pulse phase is
produced by varying the magnitude of the feedback of the intermediate pulse divider)
is considered. Analysis of the basic relations determining the correction error and
other system parameters is given. The dynamic correction error A i for a sufficiently
large averaging coefficient N > 10 can be calculated from the formula 4i = 8 k@ASZTK.
It is determined by the correction effect of the system @k , by the character of the
keying (through the coefficient A), by the distortion of the fronts of the received
