syndrome of strictly functional deaf-mutism in girl aged 16 and boy aged
10; normal intelligence and hearing but undeveloped speech. Differential
diagnosis is not easy but worthwhile as rehabilitation becomes very
difficult as the child grows up while prognosis in childhood is generally

which makes it possible to improve the foci,sing of an
ioa beam and to carry 9-.-.t. a mass analysis with superposi-
tion of additional longit-t,.dinal magnetic field of appro-
ximatelY 70 gauss. The flow of gas in this sovxce is at
the upper of the limits indicated in the literature.

Abstract: Transfusion of 200 to-1,000 ml- of dam's blood to each of
with severe early diarrhea or enteritis was accompanied with
administration of antibiotics or sulfonamides in all but 5 of the calves.
Only 1 of the 5 and 5 of the other 39 died, while 24 of the 50 treated
under comparable conditions only with antibiotics and sulfonamides
(i.e. without transfusion) died. Escherichia coli and Proteus sp. were
isolated and tested for sensitivity to common antibiotics* Technical

Abstract Juthors, English summary modifieg: The authors analyze
the indi ations, operative techniques and results.in exente-
ration of the orbit carried out in 83 patients over a ten-years
p,eriod(1955-64). Basic indications of the disease were connected
with different malignant processes whose evolution did not permit
other operative and therapeutical procedures. Most of the pa-
tients had had this tumor for over a year and many of them more
than ten years. Visual acuteness was limited to amaurosis or
light projection. Increased sedimentation was noted in 50% of
the cases. The reaction of the urine to melanin and melanogen
was negative. More than 50% survived the operation up to 2 years,
12 up to 5 years~ and only 6 survived over six years. The radical
exettexation with the removal of eye-lids should always be carried
out.' In most cases blood transfusion and X-ray treatment are ne-
