The procedure Is described. The Infiltrixtion (if thrombin may be employed as a
preventive measure in haemophilia or similar conditions. In such caseti any dental
or oral surgical Intervention is carried out under thrombin protection after gen-
eral preparation of the patient and. to enhance the local haemostatic action, an
absorbable fibrin sponge is also applied, along with an acrylate plate which pro-
vides pressure. Three case histories are presented. Tagay - Istanbul

This is done in cases of ankyloses of the jaw. The fibrin does not provoke any
foreign body reaction. After fresh cartilage has been laid down on the joint sur-
faces by the undisturbed function, the fibrin is reabsorbed without trace - this is
an advantage in comparison with vitallium or artificial material as interposita.

Kostefta performs osteotomy of the ramus mandibulae as a treatment of pro-
gnathism. fie has devtaed an appropriately curved needle with which the Gigli Raw
iised to saw through the ramus can be easily introduced behind the ramus. This
allows quick operation without skin incisions or trauma to the surrounding soft
tissues. The risk of infection in minimal. the facial nerve is not injured. The pr-3-
gnathism in corrected by postoperative interdental splinting. Twenty-five years of
practical experience have confirmed the efficacy of this method.

kbstract of the anticholinesterase properties (78.9j~o' bloc-
king in dilution of 1:1000 as against 100"o bloc-
king in dilution of 1:10.000). In a series of mo-
noethyl amides the replacement of radicals linked
to phosphorus and of the undivided chains by iso-
groupings as well as an increase in the nuinbQr of
carbon atoms lowers toxicity but has no effect in
their anticholinesterase properties. A decrease
in toxicity and anticholinesterase properties ta-
kes place when the number of carbon atoms in radi-
cals linked to nitrogen is increased and the com-
pounds in which the radicals are linked to phospho-
rus contain undivided chains. In such cases, the
presence of isogroupings causes an increase in
toxicity and anticholenesterase properties.

ItReactometric Study of Higher Nervous Activity in Obese Persons Undergoing

Prague, Activitas Nervosa Superior, Vol 5, No 3, july 63; pp 287-288.
Abstract: Study of 2 optical and 2 acoustic reactions in 57 obese women
kept first for 2 weeks on a 2000-calorie reducing diet and then for 2
weeks on a 1000-calorie one. Delay in reaction as time went on was quite
striking becoming longer than in normal controls which averaged longer
than untreated obese. Cold is stated to have possibly vitiated results by
playing artefactual role. Graph; 2 Western,l Soviet and 4 Czech ref's.

*Effect of local fluorization on the microscopic structure and the nenetration of
the hard tooth tissues STONATOLOGIA 1953, 6 (27-28) (Russian text)
In the first experiment the teeth were examined microscopically in ordinary and
in polarJzed light befor6 and after fluorization. In the 2rd the enamel was exam-
ined for penetration of methylene blue and in the 3rd and 4-ch experiments both
the enamel and the dentine were examined f.;r penetration of silver nitrate before
and after the local application of fluorine. The results indicate that an obliter-
ation of the organic parts of the enamel and the dintine tubuli may occur. Fluor-
ization of the organic parts of the hard tooth tissues seems to play a certain rtle
in caries prevention. Eggers Lura- Holbaek

ABSTRACT: In the present paper the authors synthezised the diamines
of the benzimidole series and examined their physical pro-
perties. As could be assumed from theoretical considera-
tions and from data found in publications, the diamines of
this series should furnish substantive dyes in the case of
an diazotiation and an azo combining. The diamines of the
benzimidazol series have been described only little in
publicationo. Therefore it was necessary to develop a
method for their production. These diamines proved to be

(see experimental part). The dependence of the reactivity
of aromatic amines in acylation on their basicity con.
stants, on diazotization, on the formation of azomethines
on the diazoamino compounds and on the imidazole deriva-
tives was investigated already earlier (Reference 1). In
the present paper the authors investigated the dependence
of the basicity constants of the synthezised diamines on
their structure. The problems of the interrelations exi=
sting between the basicity constants (of the Ist and of
-the 2nd), of the coincidence of the diazotisation of both
amino groups etc. are very complicated and of great theo=
retical and practical interest. In the (bases described
hOr"- the dependence of the basicity constant on struc-
ture was even more complicated, because the investigate d
products posses three basicity constants. As the first
basicity constant in most investigated diamines is about
the same and approximates the value of the basicity cons

attributed to the imidazole nucle3as. From this it follows,
that the lat and.2nd constant must be attributed to the
amino groups of the investigated diamines. The basicity
constants were determined by the method of potentiometric
titration. The results of the investigations are given in
the table.
Summarys The diaminee of the benzimidazole series possessing
2 amino groups in different benzene nuclei, have nearly
identical basicity constants independent from the fact,
wether their amino groups are conjugated to each other,
or not. The cause of this phenomenon must by looked for
in the fact, that above all the most basic imidazole
nucleus reacts in the salt formation. Its transformation
ii-ito a onion ion interrupts conjugation between the amino
groups.

ABSTRACT: According to a number of authors (References 1--4) one of
the essential factors of the substantiality of dyes is re=
presented by its chemical structure, in particular the
length of the conjugated compound chain and the linear
arrangement of molecules. The present paper is a continua=
tion of the investigations by A. Ye. Poray-Koshits in the
field of the substantive benzimidazole dyes. According to

nucleus is a strong chromophore influencing the substan-
tial properties of the dye molecule. Therefore it could be
expected that the benzimidazole dyea posses a sufficiently
high substantiality. In a previous paper (Reference 5) 7
diamines of this series were described and their structure
as well as their basicity constants were accurately deter.
mined, The aim of the present paper was the synthesis of
the azo dyes of the investifated diamine derivatives and
the examination of their substantial properties. 1$5 -
naphthol sulfo acid for single dyes as well as the naph
thion and H,I .-, and the Chicago--SS-acids were employed
as azo components~ With these examples the influence of
the diamino structure on the substantive properties of
the dyes and the influence of the azo components was ob-
served. Table 1 and 2 give the results.
Summary: Dyes formed from bidiazotized diamines of the
benzimidazole series and from 1,5 naphtho sulfo acid,
posses different subs tant ialit ies depending on

not. According to the substantiality of the obtained dyes
it is possible to pass a judgement on the presence of the
absence of conjugation between the amino groups of the ini-
tial diamines. The character of the influence of other azo
components (e. g. I-, H-, or Chicago - SS acids) on the
substantiality of azo dyes is analoguous to that of the
benzidine dye series.

ABSTRACT: An In vitro method of serial dilutions was used to test the
activity of several synthetic azo-compounds in relation to
dermatopbytes, some gram positive and gram negative bacteria and two
species of 7eastlike molds. All the tested azo-compounds containing a
carboxylic group proved inactive. The exception was 2,4-dicblor-3-
carboXY-4t-oxyazobenzol. The azo-compounds displayed highest activity
in relation to Cr. neoformanso weaker activity in relation to
dermatopbytes, and the weakest in relation to Candida, albicansG Only
