Medicine.
Orig Pub Proc. II conf. ultrasoni.*-1956y Warszawa, PWN, 19571 131-134
Abstract Investigations were made on the clarification of the pos-
sibility of use of ultrasound for the detexmination of
biological stones. It is possible to use for ultrasonic
diagnosis biolocators that operate either with the single-
feeler or double-feeler schemesj, although the former method
is more promising. From the point of viow of the damping
of ultrasound and obtaining the required directivity of
the beam, therecommended frequencies are 0.5 to 4 Mes. The
data of the biological tests on the damaging action of ultra-
Bound impose an upper limit on the intensity., myne? several

Title : The Bacteriological Evaluation of the Possibility for
Reusing Ice a Second Time in Cooling Fish.
Orig Pub : Prace Mrsk. inst. ryback. Gdyni, 1955, 397-404
Abstract Upon investigation of the ice from a refrigerator, inten-
ded for cooling fish and one from the boxes in which the
fish were transferred from their catching place, there
was found in one milliliter, from 620 to 3,090 and from
190 to 10,8W thousands of bacteria respectively. A pre-
liminary washing of the ice from boxes with sterilized
distilled water or with a 0.02% Nan solution reduces
the bacteria count to 3.5 to 286 thousands per one

milliliter. The bacteria isolated from the refrigerator
ice belong basically to RLcrococcus, Sarcina, Serratia,
Flavobacter and Proteus; those isolated from the boxed
ice belonged to Pseudononas and Achromobacter species.
All of the bacteria cuase spoilage of the fish due to an
ability to dissolve gelatine, ferment carbohydrates)
reduce nitrates and develop over a wide temperature range.
Tt is recommended that the ice be protected from outside
soiling. A rouse of the ice is not recommended due to a
change in its structure and the penetration of bacteria
during its melting.

TITLE: First report on the far side of the Moon
PERIODICAL: Urania, v- 31, no. 61 1960t 171-176
TEXT: The prebeAt report was translated by Wjadyejaw Jodjowski. The author
discusses the first paper on the invisible side of the Moon by Karol Peucker
(born in 1859) who was an Austrian of Polish origin. Peucker divided the
lunhr-'surface into continents consisting partly of mountains, partly of
11seall plains. The latter form a broad irregular belt arouAd the lunar.-
globe. Peucker agrees with Darwints hypothesis according to which this belt
was an equatorial lunar'zone which changed its position due to movements of
the lunar surface over the still hot interior of the Moon. Peucker tried to
substantiate this assumption by analogies on the Earth's surface. Later it
was shaken by J. Franz who established the existence of the continental
eastern and marine western hemisphere on the Earth. In 1904 Franz determined
the position of the invisible crater on the far side of the Moon on the
strength of the prolongation of the light beams'of this crater. Peucker

thought that a similation of the Moon is realizable with the aid of contour
lines. He denied the possib1lity of changes on the lunar surface. He be-
lieves the new forms to be merely a completion of the hitherto known. Only
large photographic lunar maps would be able to discover new objects. He
...,pointed out that the lunar surface as seen by the observer does not corre-
spond to the true forms, since the varying illumination changes their ap-
pearance. According to Peuckeriss opinion, a number of complementary
drawings is necessary in order to obtain the true picture of the lunar Sur-
face. Only stereophotographe of the Moon furnishbd4-a more plastic picture
of the lunar surface. Peucker suggested that to a number of observatories.
He-also should cooperate in preparing a comprehensive map of the Moon
(1 :'11000,000) suggested to compile a geoselenographic 'atlas. Ph. Fauth
could notfind.'Lari essential difference between the form of the visible and the
invisible lunar surface on the strength of the investigations of the 345 km
broad strip. In conclusion, the author points out that as late as last year
the secret of the far side of the Moon was revealed, when Soviet scientists
photographed the side of the Moon which is hidden from the human eye from
the cosmic station. There are 1 figure and I non-Soviet-bloc reference.

Prague, Ceskoslovenska Psychiatrie, Vol 62, No 3.Jun 66, pp 145-152
Abstract CAuthorts I~nglish summary nodified_7: Types of extroverts
and intr~Verts in boys of 6 years of age are discussed. The extro-
verts have more coordinated body movements, but some of the in-
troverts have better skill with their hands, while other introverts
are the worst in this respect; the extroverts are all in the middle
group. Clumsiness causes inferiority feelings. Introverts are
more frequentJ~ neurotic, extroverts are more frequently retarded.

Abstract Results of measu4ments of the so-called negative Barkhausen effect,
observed by rdietiskiy and Illev in nickel, are given. It wa.9 noted that
this effect was absent from certain grades of iron, nipkel, and ;some alloys.

Title : Equation for the Green's Fmiction in Quantum Electrody-
namics.
OriG Pub : Ceskjsl. casop - fYs*y 1953.% 3, No 4. 399-409
Abstract : V.D. Derestetskiy's derivation of the Schwinr;er equation
for the Green's function for a case of arbitrary number
of electrons and photons is 6eneralized. A recurrent sys-
tem of equations is derived, which can be replaced by a
simpler system of equations with functijnal derivatives
of hiGher orders. The follovin6 two cases are considered:
1) Wlien a system of two coupled equatims is produced and
2) when one equation is of hieher order. It is indicated
that relationships become sinpler if the definition of
the Green's function is chanaed. -- AccordinC; to auth-ir's

TITLE: Recurrent Construction of Angular Operators. I
PERIODICAL: Zhurnal eksperimentallnoy i teoreticheskoy fiziki, 1960,
Vol- 38, No. 6, pp. 1740-1750
TEXT: The S-matrix theory allows the cross sections of elementary
processes to be written as a function of energy, charge, angle, and spin.
This can be done directly either on the basis of perturbation theory,
Tamm.-Dankov theory, dispersion relation theory, or other theories; or in a
phenomenological way. In both cases, it is convenient to expand the
S-matrix in terms of the eigenfunctionelof the momentum and isotopic spin
operators for the initial and final ates of the process considered. The
form of this expansion may be obtained from the conservation laws derived
from the symmetry of the process with respect to the known transformation

groups. The following representation of the S-matrix is considered:
S = Z a(JM(f);JOMO(i))IJM(f)> and IjM(f)>
are the vectors of a given initial and a given final state, respectively;
la 12 is the intensity of the corresponding transitiont J0,1ko and J,M are
the quantum numbers of the total momentum and of its z-components in the
initial and final state, respectively; (i) and (f) are quantum numbers
which, together with JOAO and J9M form the total set of initial and final
states, respectively. Only the angular terms M and (f) are considered;
the other variables, such as energy, isotopic spin. parity.. etc. can be
comprehended in a. It follows from the invariance of the S-matrix with
respect to spatial rotations that J=J09 M=MO, and the coefficients a are
independent of M. Hence
S = 2 a(energy?.....~J(-C)(i))ri(angles and spins., J(f)(i)), where the
J(f)(i)
"angular operators" are determined from the formula
