Title The Study of Prospects for Vegetative Hybridization of
Sugar and Food Beets.

Abstract Data are furnished on the scientific-experimental beet
institute in Semchitze (Czechoslovakia) on verifica-
tion of advisability of using methods of vegetative hy-
bridization in beet selectivity. The analysis of
"hybrid" plants obtained showed that in most cases they
did not differ from their parental forms. And only in
a few plants a tendency was noted toward appearance of
new traits and characteristics. In the author's opinion
in no case can vegetative hybridization be considered
equal to natural reproduction.

ABSTRACT: First, the criteria are discussed for choosing the number of poles In a do
machine from the electromagnetic point of view. If these criteria allow for a suf-

choice, then the possibility is demonstrated of calculating the optimal num-'
ber of poles from the viewpoint of minimal manufacturing cost. For this
purpose an analysis is made of the weight of the copper in the winding aiid
of the J.ron in the magnetic circuit. This analysis can be used independent-
ly for the rapid determination of the weights of the active parts of a ma-

Resistance Between the Base and the EmItter

ABSTRACT: In the Telecommunication Research Institute the
dependence was followed between the residual current I kol--r
in transistors (connected to a grounded emitter) and
the magnitude of the resistance R connected between the
base and t 'he emitter, see Fig I showing the connection
for transistor measurements. This dependence was studied
at various temperatures of the ambience and the measurcd
values are plotted in Fig 2, which shows the dependence
of the residual current I ko on the resistance between
the base and the emitter. The curves show that for a
given temperature of the ambience, up to a certain value
of the resistance R, the residual current I ko has a
Card 1/2 minimum value (equalling the residual current in the case

The method is described. It was found to be reliable and suitable for use in Sur-
gical practice. Following abdominal operations some changes in the salt economy
were always found coincident with the presence of paralytic ileus.
