TITLEs Beat Transfer at High Temperatures and Transverse Flow Around Tube
Bundl@F-
PERIODICJLLi Snergetika, 1960, Vol 3, Nr 7, PP 75-80
TEXTs Heat transfer of a tube bundle placed Yertically in an aerodynamical
tube Is investigated. The bundle consisted of four rows or tubes heated
by a low-voltage zurrent. The tests 0were carried out at a mean tube-wall
temperature varying from 130v to 915 C; the aerodynamical condition was
controlled by varying Reynolds numbers from 5,800 to 19,790; thrz theraal
load was varied from 7,500 to 105,000 kilocalories per ma 0 per hour; and
the air temperature within the tube bundle attained 80-90 C. Results of
tests are compiled in 2 tables and seven graphs. Based on these results,
a general equation for heat transfer between the tube bundle and the air
flow is derived. There are 7 graphs and 2 tabl-@s.

pp. 2646 - 2647
TEXT: In the introduction the authors discuss publications on the re-
arrangement of N-nitroaalnes In acid media to o- and p-nitroaminee
(Refs. 1-10). Since no nitrating sgoat can be found in the reaction
sodium, the authors &soused an intramolocular reaction. They Invosti-
gated the possibility of an intermolecular reaction in which no nitrat-
Ing agent need occur$ as two solaoules of an N-nitroamine forn an inter-
aediato complex, in which the exchange, of the nitro groups taken place.
The joint ro-arrangemont of phonll nitroamine containing 9.1% N15 with
non-taggod p-tolyl nitroamine was studied. In the came of intramolsoular
re-arrangesent the forming a-nitro-p-toluidine should have contained
0.37% N151 in the case of intermolecular re-arrangement 1.82% 1115. The

to exclude an intermolecular mechanism of the nitroamine re-arrangeaent.

ABSTRACT: The article gives data on the selection, development, and
employment of liquid-flow gages (LFG) having oval gears. The
method of flow measurement by volume has been selected from
a number of methods used for industrial liquid-flow measure-
ment because it has a number of advantages in comparison with
the others (small error, *0, 3 -1. 50/6, its ability to serve in the
measurement of viscous liquids, including pastes, small pressure
losses, wide range of applicability). The experiments conducted
with three groups of volumetric LFG (with linear reciprocating,
compound. and rotary motions) with water and the hydrocarbons
of various viscosities have shown the advantages of LFG with
oval gears. The article describes the principle of operation of

1002. THE VALUE OF THE SKIN REACTION TO FLEX-NER TYPE DYSENTERY
ANTIGEN IN HEALTHY CIULDREN AND IN PATIENTS WITH DYSENTERY
(Russian text) -,?.ubrova V. S. - VOMOKI-MMATER. I DETS. 11957, 3
(34-31)
Observations on 425 Infants aged between 3 months and 3 yr. shwvrid that the skin
reaction to Flexner type dysentery antigen depends on the initial condition of the
Infant. In the majority of healthy children a positive reaction is observed; after
prolonged enteral immunization it becomes negative or feebly positive, suggesting
the formation of specific immunity. In infants suffering from acute or chronic
dysentery. in the period of aggravation with a normal peripheral circulation the
reactions were positive; in the presence of toxacmia or deh)dration they were
negative. which snowed the activity of the constitutional defensive powers. In the
majority of Infants with chronic dysentery, in the recovery period rthe reactions
reflected the intensity of antitoxic immunity and were increased in strength after
parenteral vaccination, which is accounted for by increase of immu, nogenests. (S)

Although saroproyhylaxis has redwcd the number of serious forms
of measles, a considerable ninbor ot inibuits are nevertheless, affected
with the typical forn. of this di:,ease in large cities dilring epidemics,
and only the children suffering from severe and complicated forms of
r.Qasles can be hospitalized because of the shortage of beds.
The authors, therefore,sug5est that public health orLAns should re-
examine the problem of available beds for those who are affected with
measles, and inerjase the possibility for their haspitalizatton.
The authors also emphasize that the prophylactic and medical effec-
tiveness of antibiotics and sulfamides may be intensified by way of
con.bining them with vitwAns and physiotherapeutic mcasures, which is
especially important when patients are treated for measles at horc. In
case of patients with toxicosis, the authors reccmend the Intramuscu-
lar and intrmvenous admini:3tration of mguesixim sulfate.
