RER, 1958, 9, 110 3, 355-366 Abstract The author calculates theoretically the noise to sig- nal ratio at the output of two typical circuits, used for the registration of signals of nuclear magnetic resonance. The noise to sigLml ratio at the input is asouned specified. A circuit is considered with ordinary sinusoidal modulation, consisting of a transducer, anplifier, detector, and n registering device, as well as a circuit with registration of the derivative of the signal. Abstract: Describes a nEw me'-hod for the identification of 'LenzoiF acid formed by the splitting of sodiura hippurate caused by some strentococei. The h,~ppurate-serum-broth medium favors the development of the streptococci and thus in.en- sifies the hydrolysis of the hippurate. The berizoic acid can only be identified by the extraction method, as in the direct test with ferric chloride all reactions are positive due to the precipitation of seric proteins Contains 1 table and 9 Wes-uer;, references. Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor N.N. Larin, Stalin Prize Winnerg (Ref. 1: Progr.esivnaya tekhnologiya mashino- stroyeniya. Chast' perva ZProgressive Technology of Machine Construction, Part 17 bast "Mashgiz", 1951 udied this new method in which machining of harde7i~d steel piecis is carried out by introducing electric current into the cutting zone. Candidate of Technical Sciences Joffe jAbstracter's note: In Rumanian text "JOFFE" - presumably IOFFEARef. 1) experimented with machining of 320-330 Bhn steel by heating stiel with high-frequency current. The result was a 3.5-5 fold increase in the endurance of tool Card l/ 10 21723 R/00 61/000/003/002/002 D015YD105 Machining of hard pieces by introducing electric current into the cutting zone cutting edges. This method, however, is not used to a great extent stnce high-frequency installation *s are expensive and machining of hardened or cemented layers can not Ve carried out. -Engineer Askinazi of the Kirov Plant in Leningrad (Ref. 1) studifd hot machining of very hard steels. This method can be used only when machining immediately follows the forging and drop-forging process. Temperatures at various points within the cutting zone have been determined by Schwerda (Ref. 3: A.N. Daniyelyan; Rezaniye metallov i instrument. Zgetal and Tool Cutting7 "Mashgiz", 1951). When ma- chining without introducing electric-current Into the cutting zone, the chipping face undergoes considerable wear. Electric current of low voltage and high intensity introduced into the cutting zone can produce temperatures of around 1,000 C in that zone. High local temperature produces a very thin plastic layer which acts like an oil film between the chip and the chipping face of the cutter. Professor Larin (Ref. 1) does not explain why the com- ponents of the cutting force P x, Py, PZ have identical values in the machining Card 2/ 10 21723 R/009/61/000/003/002/002 D015/D105 Machining of hard pieces by introducing electric current into the cutting zone process with or without current. According to the author, this is due to the fact that the entire heat produced between the chip and the chipping face flows off with the chipp heating it only to a slight depth, instead of flowing upwards along the chip to.reach the zone where the chip is detached from the piece in order to improve the actual cutting process. The experi- ments were conducted on a "Iosif Ranghel" lathe with a "FlIender" speed 'regulator. A shaft made of OLC 60 steel, with a diameter of 110 mm, a length of 400 mm, and a hardness of 52 Re was used in the experiments. A 0.5-0-7-v, 50-600-amp current was introduced into the cutting zone. The sketch of the electrical installation used is shown in Fig- 3. One of the terminals of the transformer secondary minding was connected with a mer- cury bath containing a revolving brass disk attached to the end of the main spindle of the lathe, thus establishing th- connection with the piece to be machined. The other terminal was fitted tc the cutter by a copper plate installed on top of the cutting tool. A 3-mm-thick "textolit" layer was Card 3/ 10 R/009/61/000/003/002/002 D015/1)105 Machining of hard pieces by introducing electric current into the cutting zono used for insulating the cutter from the lathe and the work piece. The cut- ting tool was tipped with a K hard alloy. T ge angle of the tool cut- 0 315 6 t ing face were X - 45 ;Xi -15 1 ~. - 5 8 10 15 while r was Imm. The cross section of t.he tool was 20 x 20 mm. During machining the work piece was cooled with a cooling emulsion at a rate of flow of 5 lit/min. The cutting speed was measured with a speed indicator. The wear of the tool cutting face was measured in relation to the working time with a device designed by the author and'constructed at the laboratory of the Institutul Politehnic (Polytechnic Institute) in Bragov. The device was attached to the tool rest near the cutter as seen in Fig. 5. The machining operation was based on the values v-25 m/min; B-0-07 mm/revolution, t=0.2-1-5 mm- The results obtained by the author when machining without current were iden- tical with those obtained by L.M. Reznitskiy, Candidate of Technical Sciences (Ref. 2: Mekhanicheskaya obrabotka zakalennykh statey, Zilechanical Pro- cessing of Hardened Steel7,' "Mashgiz", 1958) who recommends the following Card 4/10 21723 R/009 ,/61/000/003/002/002 D015/DlO5 Machining of hard pieces by introducing electric current into the cutting zone tool cutting face angl8s for machiRing hagdened steel without cuTrent: X =45 0;X, -15 0- -15 qe- -5 -0 ;A -5 and r-0-5 - 1.5 mm. With current introduced into cutting zone, the cutting point broke after approximately 10 minutes. To avoid this, the author resorted to another geometrical system of the tool cutting edge. The advantages of ma- chining very hard and hardened steels by introducing electric current into the cutting zone are (1) Chipping face wear disappears, and the wear of the tool cutting face is reduced 1#5 times; (2) Reduction of the tool cutting edge wear leads to an increase in the tool life; (3) Increased endurance of the tool cutting edge leads to a reduction of the working time spent on sharpening the tool and on its frequent replacement; (4) High Card 5/ 10 21723 H/00 61/000/003/002/002 D015YD105 Machining of hard pieces by introducing electric current into the cutting zone surface quality and machining precision L;ake the grinding and even finishing operation superfluousp and (5) Consumption of electric power i.e. up to 200 whr, is practically negligible.
