Oxalate Ions by an Activated Reaction.

Abstract : Of a number of known redox reactions that are accelera-
ted by C204 2- ions, of greatest sensitivity, as concerns
detection of C 0 ions, is the reaction of V(5 ) with
aniline, which permits to detect 1 microgram/ml Of
C 0 ions. The reaction is carried out in acid medium
(at least 0.1 N in mineral acid) by adding in a test tube
to 1 ml of the solution under study 5 drops of 1 N HC1,

of a greenish-blue color indicates the presence of C204L

Na Li , NH .Ca . Sr and Ba , I mg of each of the
highly colored cathions of Co , Ni , Cr and Cu
and 4000-5000 fold amounts of anions of C1 , Br , SO
NO and BO do not interfere with the reaction, al-
thouE~h they do slow down the reaction to some extent,
PO and F anions decrease the sensitivity of the reac-
tion to 50 micrograms/ml.' For qLzantitative microdetermi-
nation of C 0 ions use is mle of the redox reaction

ABSTRACT: A method is deri-ed for
determining the RC parallel equivalent circuit of a'nonlinear lossy capacitor,
and relations are formulated for its quality factor and some additional basic
properties, from the time response of voltaGe and current. The properties of
a triglycine-suIpbate tandel are investigated on the basis of the theory de-
rived in this m,-mner. The RC equivalent circuit of the tandel has a validity
limited only for the time response of the voltage on the basis of which the
circuit was constructed. The tandel is a markedly :nonlinear element, especial-
"ly at low frequencies. Its power loss is higb, and its quality factor is al-
ways less than 4. The dependence of the investigated properties.on the am-

TITIE: Determining the response of nonlinear oscillation circuits by the method of
partial phase resonance images

ABSTRACT: The article describes the method of partial phase resonance images for
determining the waveform of natural oscillations and the response of series oscillatio
circuits to random input voltages as well as the response of parallel oscillation
circuits to input current. The method is suitable for series circuits with a
nonlinear inductance and a constant capacitance as well as for parallel circuits
with a nonlinear(ca~acitance and a constant inductance. When this method is used,
the ff (i) and q uc responses are approximated by using responses with rectilinear
~
sections and the entire complex phase plane is divided into regions'with constant
inductance and capacitance according to those responses. The respective section of

Abstract: Treatment of ileus of diverticular origin was success-
ful due to modern anaesthesiology. A preoperative diagnosis of
ileus of diverticular origin is difficult and is establislied.only
with operation. The authors applied various operative methods,
depending on the type of ileus and the general condition of the
patient. The delicacy of ileus diagnosist especially of this type,
requires the close cooperation of pediatricians and the pediatric

a realistic method for setting up quotas, the author
describes in detail the theory of quota determina-
tion, based on time study, and the work and duties
of a quota controller in a plant. The work of the
quota controller is closely connected with that of
workers, planne.Ts and other personnel employed in
production.. The quota controller will be called
upon on various occasions, such as the production
of a new article, introduction of a supplementary

lation of work productivity. Setting up a realistic
quota for a production process requires, first, a
detailed discussion With the foreman who will be
able to inform the controller on various pertinent
details and, secondly, time recording of the work
process with special attention to workers9 skill,
reflexes, alertness and dexterity in handling equip-
ment. On the basis of a complex table of time data,
an analytical calculation of the factors influencing

--valeric acid with the action of HBr; by heati.ng with NH3
containing alcohol, II and III were transformed correspon-
dingly into EE of 4-(pirrolidyl-2)-.buteric acid (TV, acid
IVa) and EE of 5-(pirrolidyl-2)-valeric acid (V, acid -
Va). 6 gr of I in 15 Mlit of absolute alcohol is satured

to 1650 (after sublimation in vacuo). VI vhen heated

of LIAIH4, melting point 211 to 2130 (from benzene).

Xost In an experimental nursery of the scientific-experimental
agricultural institute (Petch, Jugoslavia) during 1953-
1954, uhich 'was distinguished by a severe winter (air tem-
peratures fell to -220), the winter resistance of 145
apple tree varieties and 51 plum tree varieties were stu-
died. Serving as stock trees for apples were seedlings
of Malus silvestris, and for plums-- Prunus cerasifera.
43 species of apples were resistant to frost, among them
Antonovka, Chinese bellefleur, Chinese borsdorf, Chinese
kandil, safran pepin and others. The other species of

apple trees were damaged to various degrees.
Chinese safran, Bessemianka michurina and Bergamot renet
are not sufficiently frost-resistant under local condi-
tions. Of all the tested varieties of plums, only Red-
wing, Convoy and Tonka were frost-resistant. All others
were severely damaged.
