Abstract: The authors tested standardized pre-mixed reagents
used in biochemical analysis with regard to their sensitivity
qnd specificity, reliability of analytic responses, and be-
havior under field conditions. As a result of the tests, spe-
cific commercially available reagents are recommended for the
tests for albuminuria, glycosuria, hematuria, ketonuria and
biliary pigments.
Includes 12 tables and 7 references, of which 4 Rumanian

quartz ampule at 1380 OC. Single crystals of this material wErv-,
obtained by growth from the vapour phase in a (,urrent of hydrcg~11-
X-:ray p~aotographs showed that they had the vurtzite structure.
Gro,,rth defects were found leading to the local appearance of the

p. Ite-type cubic structure. The ZnSe obtained by reactixig
the spe,,-troscopica,lly pure elements (Se 99.9921,~ and Zn 1)9.999(,")
nevertheless showed A red fluorescence in UV 0light (3650 A). The
powder initially obtained was heated at 950 C in a current e.)f
H2 Ox I.itres/h) and condensed in a cooler part of the muffle tube.
This purified material did not fluoresce. To grow crystals the
method of ReynoldEi and Czizek was used. This Eiad been applied
by Hamilton (Brit- J. App.Phys., 1958, Vol. 9. No. 3) for gro--i--;n-

medium. The evatporating region was at: 1 100 , thg crystallising
region at 930 0 -with a. temperature gradient of 17 '/cm. in one
run about :20 small crystals were obtained. Some were in the forin
of hexagonal prisms or pyramids with more or less good faces. The
remai,nder Of the material gmw as dendrites of lengths 5-6 mm
and very sinall cxoss-.section. Both Laue and Debye X-ray diffraction
photographs were takcin using an URS-70-type apparatus. Cu radiation
filtered through Ni foil was used. No difference between the
purified and the unpurified ZnSe was found in powder photographs.
Lines corresponding to the sphale-rite-type structure were sharp and
those corresponding to the wiirtzite type were very weak~ Some
lines overlap, fDr example lil and 0002 The cell size of the
hexagonal modifitaticin was found to be a 3.98 and c =. 6.55
For the cubic form a was found to be !i.67 Single-crystal
pictures were obLained with W-radiation in a KRON-2 camera. In
a Laue photograph taken with the beam along -the [0001-1 axis there
were sole spots which did not conform to the hexagonal symmetry.

Certain Peculiarities of the Structure 0 r s inc Selenide
The hexagonal structure of ZnSe has not been definitely established
before. The tendency to a disordered, mixed hexagonal and cubic
structure seems quite strong. The cubic regions seem to exist
as terraces on 1.he 'basal planes of the hexagonal form. This dimor-
phism is common in the other compounds (Zn, Cd)(5, Se, Te). The
particular struiture which results depends on the method of pr,--~p-
aration and on ".he temperature. Others (Hamilton, loc, cii,) aPplied
-the reaction (NA%2so3 )2 Se + ZnSO 4 + H20 = ZnSe + 2Na-HS01, + Na 2SO3
:in an acid mediiun in which the ZnSe was precipitated in the cubic
form. The purity may also influence the relative stability of the

dary parameters of coaxial cables, including those ford resistance, induc-
tance, capacitanDe, conductance, attenuation constant, phase constant,
characteristic impedance, and propagation velocity. The author then descri-
bes the structural characteristics of the central and outer conductor and
the protection s';aeath, insulation methods and the optimum ratio of the dia-
meters of the conductors. The lists the main types of coaxial cables used
in modern engineBring and compares the characteristics of some coax-ial cables
made in the USSR, GDR, USA, England and France. Emphasizin[; the advantages
of coaxial cable,3, the author recommends their use and particularly their
production in Rumania. There are 18 figures and 6 tables.
