ABSTRACT: The results of calculations are given for evaluating the differences
in electric conductivity of seeded combustion products of various fuel types.
Several ordinary hydrocarbon fuels were used as examples. An fuels were tested
under identical combustion conditions: a stoichiometric combustion with air at a
pressure of 1 atm and a temperature of 7000C. The calculated conductivityll
resulted from the addition of potassium (K) to the equilibrium combustion products.

The decrease in the concentration of free electrons due to the presence of
0 and OH and the formation of KOH was taken into consideration. For a group
of fuels having similar values of the adiabatic temperature of combustion the
conductivity differences amounted to 30016. These differences result from different
values of the fuel hydrogen-carbon ratio I-I:C. The optimum content of seeding
varies from 4 to 7%, depending on the hydrogen content in the fuel. The results
of calculations are significant for investigating the processes of magnetodynamic

Abstract t Among the patients studied (66 with gastric ulcers,
23 with hype-, normo-, and hyperacidic gastritis, 53
with achlorhydric gastritis, 22 with polyposis of the
stomach, and 81 with carcinoma of the stomach), the
anemia was last marked in the patients with ulcers
and gestritis and most apparent in those with cancer

Abstract : was located elsewhere. lietastasis of carcinoma of
the sto=ch (CS) leads to increasing anemia only in
cases. in which the primary tumor is situated in the
pyloric region. The factor of achlorhydria intensifi-
es the anemia., with the reduction in the number of
erythrocytes being greater than the drop in lfgb. A
study of the size and shape showed that macrocytosis
is seen not only in CS but also in precancerous con-
ditions of the stomach. In Cs there is often a macro-
planocytosis also, Histories are presented of patients
which illustrate that an increase in macroplania in pre-
cancerous diseases indicates malignization of the pro-
cess. Analysis of the ESR showed that acceleration
of preCiDitation is seen in 75 percent of cases of CS$
in 38-41~peroent of cases of gastritis, and in 27 per-
cent of cases of polyposis. The number of erythrocy-
tes in sternal bone marrow punctures, in both carci-

ABSTRACT: The increased demands made upon electromotors with low power
output and small air-gap require that eccentricity between
stator and rotor be taken intoaccount. Two drawings show the
eccentric position of a body of revolution in a larger ring,
and the potential- and field lines of a bipolar field; the
corres'ponding geometric quantities are given. Mathematical
considerations are dealt with in the complex domain, i.e.
the Cartesian coordinates are transformed into bipolar ones.
The formula for the distribution of the potential lines is
then developed, and with the aid of the conditions of con-
tinuity the solution for the case under investigation is
specialized on the boundary surfaces of the various media.
Following this, the solutions for the quadrupolar and hexa-
polar systems are written down. In conclusion, the voltage
in the field is calculated by means of an expansion in series

ABSTRACT: The simulating of plane parallel potential fields can be
carried out very easily in an electrolytic bath. At the

of this kind. The bath of cylindric shape had a diameter of
400 mm and was made of enameled sheet iron. On the inside
wall an elastic Novotext-band was inserted in which at a
distance of 5 mm 150 vertical electrodes with a breadth of
4 mm were installed. Each protruding end of the electrodes

duced. The potentiometers determined the demanded distribution
of the limiting potentials. On the bottom of the bath a flat
plate with a rectangular coordinate scheme plotted thereupon
was fixed. The author used this plant to set up the field
within an eccentric ring. The internal boundary surface was
formed by a cylindric ring made of sheet brass. The potentio-
meter system was supplied by alternating current with industry
frequency. The regulation of the potential of each electrode
and the determination of the coordinates of the points be-
longing to the concerning equipotential line was carried out
according to the circuit given in figure 1. As indicator an
oscillograph was used, operating as amplifier. By means of
the potentiometer R the desired voltage on the oscillograph
can be regulated. Then the same potential was regulated with
the oscillograph on tin bath electrode by means of one of the
potentiometers R1, R 2, R3 etc. installed there. Hereby the
lightning vertical strip on the screen of the oscillograph
changed into a point. For the determination of the coordinates

the bath. If it moves along an equipotential line correspond-
ing to a certain potential regulated by means of R, then a
lightning point is visible on the screen of the oscillograph.
The use of the circuit given here guarantees rather good accura-
cy. There are 1 figure and I Soviet reference.

ABSTRACT: This paper describes a standard absolutely black body source of irifrared
radiation. Its total emissivity, a , is between .99 and 1.00 and i ts temperature can
be controlled between - 20 and + 40C by thermoelectric means. Thus JA.-, can either
emit or absorb radiation and can be considered to be a "negative" radiation source.
The instrument is Stable and has low overall dimensions. The approach of emissivity
to unity was effected by efficient cavity design, in forn of a hollow cone frustrt=.
with a small rectangular opening at the smaller top base, and a serrated inside bot-
tom floor. A four-thermistor circuit senses the base temperature. The tnernoclectric
battery workseither as a heater or a cooler, uses 24 watts. At present the temperatu-l'
re is adjusted manually with a precision of .50C; further development is planned, to

Abstract: The jejunum homogenate has maximum activity at pH 3.5,
the microparticle fraction at pH 5.5. It appears that two
beta-galactosidases are present in the jejunum. The two show
