ments were conducted in a permanent magnetic field Ho = 2350 oer-
sted (fp = 10 Mcyclesp fL17'=,3.9 Mayeles). The inhomogeneity of.
the magnetic field inside the specimen, did not exceed 0.05 oersted.
The frequency was measured by the electronic frequency meter L43 -1
(OhN-1).. In order to Take into account the drift of the magnetic
field-strength, the measurements were iaadp at equal time inter-
,vals, whereby the resonance frequencies of the nuclei and of the
proLons were measured alternatively, one after another. The mean
value of the frequency ratiot obtained from a series of 10 measure-;.
ments, was f7 0-3886357 + 0.0000016, which is in good agree-

Abstract; Work conducted by VNITZ-belezobeton and the Leningrad Institute of
Railroad Transport, has shown that termination of the processes of
hydration and crystallization of &Tsum coincide in time. The bard-
ening process is divided into two periods: end of the first is de-
termined, not accurately, by means of the needle of Vick, as "ter-
mination of setting,," and the end of the second (13-17 minutes) is
the "end of crystallization." It is appropriate to evaluate the
kinetics of hardening (setting time) end of crystallization) from

A.BSTRACTt The author obtains explicit expressions for zonal spherical
functions of the homogeneous symmetric space 11 - SU(n)/SO(n)'
the motion group of which is the unitary-unimoaular group of
n-th order SU(n) and the stationarysubgroup of which is the
orthogonal group SO(n). The solution of the problem bases on the
following scheme: In an arbitrary irreducible linear representation
of the group SU(n) the author considers the vector S invariant
with respect to SO(n). If S is rotated with the aid of the
transformations of SU(n) and if in the space of representation
a unitary metric invariant with respect to SU(n) is introduced,
-then the scalar product of the rotating vector and the initial
vector is a zonal spherical function of M1. As an example the
author considers ri for n=3.

Abstract On a farm which was free from contamination with infectious
atrophic rhinitis of vwine (IM), an experimental infec-
tion of piglets via intranasal inoculation, without injur-
ina the mucosa, was carried out# The microbial cultures
consisted of Be pyocyaneus and its mixture with other mift
croorGanisms isolated from swine affected with IAR. All
the infected piglets contracted the disease. -Lbstmortem
examination revealed the decrease of the size of nasal

isolated microorganisms killed with formalin, the authors
prepared several varients of vaccines, On several farms.,
a two-shot vaccination of a great number of 1-2 weeks old
piglets with agar and broth monovaccines obtained from Be
pyocyanaus, was effected, From among the vaccinated pi-
glets, 391%, and from amonL? the control animaley 8% con-
tracted. DRO The incidence of TAR among vaccinated piG-
lets indicates that apart from B. pyocyaneuo, some other
causative agent is also of importance in the etiology of
IAR* This is also confirmed by the fact that B. pyocya-
neus was not isolated from all of the affected animalso
On two farms, trichomonads, morphologically similar to
the causative agents of trichomoniasis of cattle, were
detected in the nasal carities of the piglets, It is pos-

ABSTRACT: The authors cite some examples which show that the air-
conditioning of a mine by means of cooling and heating de-
vices calls for considerable expenditures. They zuggest
another possibility to ensure an almost permanent comfort-
able atmosphere in the mines without these deviceat the
switching over of a direct ventilation current to a reverse
one, which he names the re-circulation scheme. The authors
compare the amount of impurities containing in the outgo-
ing air, fresh air, and the air leaving the stoping works,
with the admissible impurities, taking as an example the
pit Kapital1naya Nr 2 of the Degtyarsk copper mine. They
point out that the purification of the outgoing air can
be improved by placing a water "curtain" in its path; dust
will be settled and gas admixtures will be dissolved. In
this way, the outgoing air can be re-used. The authors
then proceed to discuss the theoretical side of the problem

circulation (defined as the ratio of the amount of repeated-
ly-tioed air to the total amount of incoming air and the
temerature of the mixture of re-used and fresh air. The
use of these formulas is illustrated by some numerical ex-
amples. The re-circulation scheme should be devised in
such a manner that it would be poeoible to ~rary the re-
circulation coefficient in the range from 0 to 1. The air
for re-circulation can be returned through a heat-insulated
pipeline of large diameter with built-in water spray and
general ventilator.

ABSTRACT: This seminar was organized by the Institute gornogo dela
(The Institute of Mining Industry) and the Laboratoriya teploob-
mena i teploobmennykh apparatov inatituta teplo energetiki All
SSSR (the Laboratory of Heat Exchange and ileat-exchanging
Equipment of the Heat Power Engineering Institute of the.AS of
the Ukr.SSR). It took place in Kiyev from 17-20 October 1957.
100 persons took part in it. It was opened by the Academi-
cian A.N. Shcherban' with a lecture on the state of heat en-
gineering in the Union and abroad. fie recommended a close
cooperation of scientists with the mining industryg the com-
plexity of problems of heat exchange in the mines requires
such a measure. The seminar discussed the pneumatic cool-
ing ventilation system elaborated by the head of the la-
boratory of the Ileat P6ver Engineeii~ing Institute of the AS of the
Wir - SSR) - This system working on a compressed air basis
