Rabbits were exposed to silica dust, one group durinr 15 weeks
another roup during
33 weeks. The animals were then sacrificed and the eyes,, the
respiratory tract
and various other organs studied histologically. Polarascopy
was also made use of.
The first lesions appeared in the eyes and in the aire
passares (after an exposure
of 15 weeks.) Pulmonary, changes occurred only after 33 weeks.

Title Salt Used for Preservation of Green Hides

Abstract Listed are the norms of chemical composition
of common
salt suitable for preservation of green hides. In the
salt used for skins the following amounts must not be
exceeded: Ca 0.4%, Mg 0.1%, Fe 0.01%, moisture content
2%. Norms of crystal size of the salt are also given.
For example salt used to treat skins must contain 20%
of particles 0.25-0-5 mm, 50% of 0.6-1.0 mm, 25% of
1.1-2.0 mm, 5% of less than 0.25 = and larger than 2
mm. The simplest methods of salt analysis are descri-
bed.
