Moscow, Gosenergoizdat, 1959. 319 P. 10~000 copies printed. Ed.: Ye. I. Radzyukevich; Tech. Edo N-1. Borunov. PURPOSE: This manual is intended for technicians engaged in assembling steam turbines. The book may be helpful to crews operating steam turbines. COVERAGE: The book covers problems of organizing and conducting the assembly and erection of various types of steam turbines and turbogenerators now being installed in USSR electric power plants. The author discusses problems related to initial starting of a turbine and adjustment and performance after assembly. A chapter Is devoted to the assembly and erection of auxiliary equipment for domestic electric power plants. Card 1/7 Erection of Steam Turbines SOV/2430 Personalities mentioned are: Engineer S.S. Yakobson, collab- orator in the chapter on welding pipelines; and Engineer I.M. Stepanov, Chief of the Assembly Divisian of the Leningrad installicheskiy zavod (LMZ), who reviewed the book and made several valuable comments. There are no references. Doses of one hundred million, one billioa, and ton billion colls caused a severe form of tularemia with distinct clinical symptoms. Four-month-old lambs had a milder form of the disease. The height of the serum titer varied with the dose used. 7ho diagnostic titer. I ,of the agglutination reaction was 1:25 because lambs infected with the iminimum dose (100 cells) had a positive reaction with tularemia antigen in -a serum titer of 1:25 and higher be:twoen the 15th and 25th days. The icomploment-fixation.roaction to tularemia was positive in 80% of the cases from the 15th day 4ftor infoation to the and of the aporimont. It was ,negative with bruce 4antigen in all the animals. The skin allergy. test with tularin in a concentration of one bill 4 on .microbial calls in 1 ml (dose 0.2 ml) produced a distinct positive reaction in the infected animals during.-tho 45 days of theoVoriment. In 8-month. 'old lambs-a. ~dsitive reaction was not~a on the' ~+-h day, and""ifi 4-rionth-old' mimals. between the 10th ind 15th days after infection. The authors conclude that the skin test with tularin and the complement-, fixation reaction are reliable means of diagnosing tularemia in sheep and . Nasimovich. The same problem was investigated in the State Natural Reservations with ensuing-Dublications by V.V. Dmitriyev, I.V. Zharkov, 0.1. Semenov-Tyan-Shanskiy, Ye N and P.V. Teplov and others. The first comprehensi" s;s?ematic book on the subject was written by A.N. Formozov in 1946. A.1l,research was summari- zed by A.A. Nasimovich in a publication in 1955. The material includes the "weight load on the footprint" of 12 Eivecies, the temporary removal of predatory animals,--the change of food sources and places in connection with a, changed mobili- ty, etc. There is 1 Soviet reference. PERIODICAL; Prirodaj 1959, Nr 51 PP 50 - 51 ABSTRACT: The author states that the Przewalaki Horse is the only wild horse now in existence. The area In- habited by these horsqs at ~he end of-the l9th century was between 90" - 95 1 and 44" - 46"N, and apparently this is still the area where they 1.~ve. These horses were seen in 1947 by Yunatov d in 1949/52 by Eregden Dagva. They are gradu- a 5 1 y dying off, apparently because of shortage of watering places and grassland. They roam between China,.in summer andMongolia in winter (Fig-are 1). The establishment of reservations is urgently needed over the whole of thesbareas.
