TEM: The author reviews published work (including his own)
on the electrical conductivity and breakdown in liquid

fields of 100 - 2000 kV/om. The review cites 93 refere~nces
(Soviet-bloc
and others) of items published up to the beginning of 1961. The
first
section of the review is short; it deals with the conductivity
of liquid
dielectrics in the pre-breakdown regions voltage-ampere

are reviewed and cold electron emission from the cathode is
reported to
be important in fields from 100 to 1000 kv/cm. The second
section of the

ABSTRACT: A summary is pres, ented of studies of the mobility values
of ions
ranging from 10-7 to 10-2 cm V the
1 sec-1, depending on the viscosity of fluids,
latter within the range of 2. 10-2 to 5 poise (from liquefied inert
gases to the most
viscous paraffin oil). The possibility of interpreting the
experimental results from
the viewpoint of ion structure is discussed. From the data compiled
it follows that
t-he mobility of ions decreases systematically with an increase of
viscosity satisfying,i

TITLE: Potential field of average errors. Mechanical

geodetic nets
PERIODICAL: Przegl~d Geodezyjny, no. 3, 1960, 79 - 82
TEXT: In this article the author tries to generalize the
mechanical analo-
gy in adjustment calculation. This generalization was made by
assuming the con-
ception of the potential field of average error, in other
words the field of er-
rors. Investigations on this subject were made before by
Doctor Lyle G. Trorey,
Canada, "Mechanical aerotriangulation" and by Doctor H.G.
Jerie "ITC Delft".

TITLE,, Potential field of average errors. Mechanical
levelling of flat
geodetic nets, Part II
PERIODICAL. Przeglpd Geodezyjny, no. 4, 1960, 117 - 121
TEXI: This is the second and last part of an article by the
author in which
he presents a method of calculating the potential field of
average errors and a
mechanical levelling of flat geodetic nets. An angular net is
regarded by the
alithor as a linear net of certain type. It is assumed that
each angle of the net
is basically a linear net consisting of three lines 1.1, 11,
11 connecting the
0
~1 J. p
pole 0 with points C, L, and P. The point 0 will be called
the pole of elementary
net. Similarly, as with the linear net, it is assumed that
points C, L, P and 0
act on each other with tYeforce of the field of average
error. Elementary arrange-
ment. of these four points will have a certain potential of
internal forces. This
po-I.ential will be called the angle potential and will be
denoted as V,%. Examining
i,he potential for the angle observed at equal sight lines
(CL = CP), an auxiliary
arrangement of u, v, starting at pole 0 will be assumed. The
angle potential will

equal one half of the sum of potentials of a given pair of
points, i,e, 01, OP and
CC. A certain change, depending on the angle, occurs in the 11,
1 p and 10 sectors.
Assuming that the mass of points 0, L, P, C equal unity, tIje
follojilng dependence
for the angle potential will be noted:
, = 1 (1"2 _1 12 _112 (23)
VOG 2 1 p C
Starting from this equation, the author demonstrates the
calculation method, ar-
riving at. the conclusion that for levelling a linear net the
basic condition V&,=
= f dV~(,= minirrrum, must be fulfilled. The basic levelling
condition for a linear-
angular net is V + V,4= minimum. A levelling net may also be
levelled mechanical-
ly provided that the following condition is fulfilled Vz =
minimum, where Vz is the
levelling potential. Further, with the aid of an
elastic~-mechanical model of a
geodetic net and on the basis of vector and tensor calculation%
the author demmiibes
the levelling possibilities. The possibilities presented by the
Cremony-Maxwell
construction should not be overlooked. With the aid of the
Heavyside function,
the author calculates the levelling conditions of an electric
and a general physical
model of a geodetic net. As a result of these calculations he
presents the follow-
ing basic concept-ion about analogy-, Every levelled net may be
regarded as a body
