NI E-15: "Probable Soviet Moves to Exploit the Present Situation," published 11 December. Projects in Process 2. NIE-4: "Soviet Course of Action with Respect to Germany." Second draft is being revised in the Office of National Estimates. A revised draft will be ready for review about 19 December, prior to its circulation among the IAC representatives. 3? NIE-5. : "Indochina; Current Situation and Probable Developments." Draft under review in Office of National Estimates. A draft for consideration by IAC representatives is not expected until Friday, December 22. 4. NIE-6: "Iran's Position in the World Balance of Power." Termscf reference being revised in accordance with IAC action defining the nature of a national intelligence estimate. (See paragraph 6b, IAC-D-7) 5. NIE-8: "Greece's Position in the World Balance of Power." Awaiting contribution by State. 6.- NIE-9: "Turkey's Position in the World Balance of Power." Terms of reference have been revised and sent to the IAC representa- tives with a view to considering them and meeting 1100 Friday, December 22, in Room 144 South Building. 7. NIE-10: "Communist China." Terms of reference were reconsidered, revised, and agreed on by the IAC representatives on 15 December at the request of AFOIN. IAC contributions are due by 27 December, 8. NIE-12: "Consequences of the Early Employment of Chinese Nationalist Troops in Korea." Concurrence received from State, Army, Navy, and Joint Staff. Notification received that Air Force would dissent. Discussion of the Air Force dissent placed on the Agenda of the IA.C meeting scheduled 21 December. Estimate being revised in accordance with decision of interdepartmental ad hoc committee at their meeting December 6. Draft received by ONE on December 15. Tentatively scheduled for IAC consideration on December 28. 11. NIE-16: "International Implications of Maintaining a Beachhead in South Korea," State contribution received December 15, Awaiting contribution by Defense agencies. 12. NIE-17: "Probable Soviet Reactions to a Remilitarization of Western Germany." Draft incorporating substance of the discussion of meeting of IAC representatives on December 18, circulated December 19. Formal IAC clearance to be requested at meeting of IAC on December 21. 13.
