b. Review of Sensitive Situations
At the Chairman's request General Schow gave the members
an appraisal of the military situation in Indonesia. In the course of
this presentation, General Schow noted reports regarding the use by
the central government of some troops with Communist affiliations
or orientation. The members also discussed recent developments
in the Indonesian political situation.
The Chairman and members exchanged views on recent
information bearing on the relations of King Saud and Nasser.
The Chairman referred to the favorable results of the
Sudanese election. Mr. Arneson also commented on present develop-
ments in, and the general outlook for, the US employment of its
"good offices" in the French-Tunisian dispute.

Discussion of Comments by
President's Board on Proposed
Revisions of NSCIDs
The Chairman referred to the invitation of the IAC members
to attend the NSC meeting at which the proposed revision of NSCIDs
would be discussed. He then exchanged views with. the members on
the comments by the President's Board of Consultants on Foreign
Intelligence Activities on the draft NSCID revisions, which had been
forwarded under a memorandum from the Executive Secretary, NSC.
After reviewing comments by the President's Board and other relevant
matters, the members concurred generally in the view's expressed by
the Chairman and he indicated that any presentation of his views
before the NSC would be made in the light of this discussion with the
members.
