Turkey as an Ally
Approved as amended. The Board of National Estimates
will revise Table III on page 19a of the 20 February draft, and check
the revision with the IAC representatives prior to publication.
4. Middle Eastern Situation
The Chairman stated that he may be called upon on short
notice for an intelligence appraisal of the situation in the Middle
East, 25X6
He said he would welcome suggestions from the members
on this question, and that he would inform the IAC of any views he
might be required to express to the NSC.

1. Unless objection is raised by a member at the next regular
meeting of the IAC, the Secretary proposes to release to USIA
NIE 33-56, "Turkey as an Ally," 21 February 1956.
2. All member agencies concurred in the draft reply to SHAPE
concerning release of reports of indications of Soviet military ag-
gression (IAC-D-6/11. 4, 8 February 1956), and it was forwarded
by the Secretary on 20 February.
