The following statement on the Suez problem, dated 10 August, prepared by the Chairman, IAC Ad Hoc Working Group on the Arab- Israeli Situation, has been forwarded to the Secretary, IAC: a. "In line with the request of the Intelligence Advisory Committee (IAC-M-250, paragraph 2b, 2 August 1956), the chairman of the IAC Ad Hoc Working Group on the Arab- Israeli Situation discussed the Suez situation with the several working members of the Group.' b. "It was agreed that at this time the Suez situation was characterized primarily by developments of a diplomatic and policy nature and that accordingly a special IAC intelligence reporting effort would probably not be warranted. The chairman suggested to the members of the group that he would be ready to call a meeting whenever any of the members felt changes in the picture might require a review of the IAC request. " 2.
