Action: Noted pages 1 through 3 and approved the recom- mendations with the amendment that paragraph 3 should read as follows: "That the IAC Watch Committee arrange for the pro- duction by the appropriate office or agency of research studies on those indicators or parts thereof where it would be desirable to set forth what is known of past and present conditions and apparent trend." Discussion of the Status of Coordination in Berlin 3. Discussion: General Smith reported that in response to his cable General Truscott had indicated that coordination of clandestine activities is proceeding satisfactorily and that the target study is near completion. General Smith indicated that the need for the coordination of day-to-day operations is still quite clear as viewed from Washington and that it may be that General Truscott is not thinking of the same problems which have concerned the IAC. Therefore, he intended, he said, to send Mr. Kirkpatrick to Germany to discuss the matter with General Truscott and to explain in more detail the problem as seen from Washington and the objective in the proposal. General Smith invited General Bolling to send a representative with Mr. Kirkpatrick if he considered that would be helpful. It was the consensus that this course of action was desirable. 25X1 S-E-C-R-E-T Approved For Release 2003/02/27 : CIA-RDP85S0036&Wb ff6bO30017-8 15 May 1952 Approved For Relea 2003/02/27 : CIA-RDP85S00362R0001030017-8 S -E-C -R -E -T Security Information IAC-M-70 15 May 1952 25X1 Conditions and Trends in Latin America Affecting U.
