Subj: The National Intelligence Daily (NID)(C)
Encl: (1) Access to the NID
1. (C) The DCI initiative to evaluate the distribution of the
National Intelligence Daily is appreciated as essential. to secure
sensitive intelligence sources. It is also timely for the Marine
Corps, as ongoing changes in leadership neccessitate review of this
Headquarters' current access to the NID.
2. (C) Currently the Commandant of the Marine Corps (CMC) has
sole access to the only NID received. It is requested that. access
be opened to the Assistant Commandant (ACMC) and the Chief of
Staff. Additionally, it is requested that a second NID be
provided with access granted to the Deputy Chief of Staff for
Plans, Policies, and Operations and the Director of Plans Division;
and a third copy for the Director of Intelligence with access as
specified in the enclosure. The enclosure comprises those prin-
cipals and planners for which access is requested.
3. (U) These are determined to be the minimum requirements for
adequate support to this Headquarters. Anything less would
severely hamper the intelligence effort to support our operations.
