SUBJECT Visit by Admiral Crowe
1. Admiral James Crowe, Jr., (his name is pronounced to
rhyme with "vow"), will visit CIA HQs the morning of 7 June
1983. He has an appointment with you at 1130 hours. Admiral
Crowe is coming from his assignment as Commander-in-Chief, Allied
Forces Southern Europe, to assume his new position as Commander-
in-Chief, US Pacif~ mmand (CINCPAC). A biographic summary is
attached (Tab A).
2. Admiral Crowe is known as one well informed and quite
articulate on strategic policy issues. As you will note on the
bio summary, he served as Commander of the Naval Middle East
Force. Later, as Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Plans and
Policy he dealt widely with senior foreign naval officials,
including Soviet. He has traveled to Moscow an~alked on
