Fitzwater Deputy Director for Acbninistration SUBJECT: Weekly Report for Period Ending 11 March 1983 1. Progress reports on tasks assigned by DCI/DDCI: All action on tasks assigned by the DCI/DDCI has been completed. 2. Items/events of interest: a. During the period, New Building activities included a presenta- tion to senior Agency management on alternative construction concepts. A final concept was recommended and approved. Also, the Virginia Department of Highirays and Transportation (VDHF~T) has informed the Agency that, due to VDH~T personnel reductions, they will be unable to assume responsibility for proposed improvements to Route 123. The Agency will now assume this responsibility as part of the Headquarters expansion program. d. Functional and acceptance testing of the CIA SAFE Ear?ly Capability System application softzaare was begun on 7 >Sarch. A delegation fi?om the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence toured the Northside Computer Center on 4 March. The Deputy Director for Administration and representatives from the Office of Data Processing accompanied the tour. No critical problems have been identified and SAFE Early Capability is on schedule. During the reporting period, the Agency Polygraph Sct-ool received formal accreditation from the American Polygraph Association. They next full session of polygraph training is scheduled for the first week of April. f, A representative from the Industrial Security Branch, Office of Security, gave Security Awareness Briefings at 20 contractor facilities to contractor employees on the Nest Coast. In addition, 25X1 representatives from the Technical Security Division, Office of Security, conducted special audio countermeasures inspections in support of the DCI`s briefing of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and Agency officers testifying before the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Asian Pacific Affairs. h. The Language School, Office of Training and Education., conducted a series of meetings on Computer-Assisted Instruction (CAI) at the Interagency Roundtable on 9 A?arch. The program included status reports on current CAI implementation at the Language School, the ~`ati:onal Security Agency, the Defense Language Institute, and the Air Force Academy. 3. Significant activities anticipated during the coming week:: 25X1 b. The Deputy Director for Administration and the Chief, Safety Staff will attend a two-hour workshop sponsored by the Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Office in support of a government-wide safety belt use program on 17 March. c.
