We have discussed your call for a near-term action pilot project
on office automation and recognize that this activity is on-going
Agency-wide. However, to highlight this in the support area, we have
selected the Office of Medical Services' Computer Assisted Medical
Processing System (CAMPS). This is an evolutionary effort which
involves the use of automated data processing in many facets of the
office's activities. This on-going activity will be done with the
existing resources, and with resources planned for FY 1984, without
any redirection of available personnel or funds. Any acceleration of
this program would require new resources. We will provide you with
details periodically.
