SUBJECT: ADP-Related Savings Resulting from Occupancy of
New Building
1. In responding to your request for estimated dollar
savings resulting from the construction of a new building on the
read marters site, we have assumed that all ccrapcnents presently
in !eased space would move to the Langley ccmioound.
2. The need for OEP to operate Data Access Centers (DACa)
in outlying buildings would be eliminated, thereby freeing up
eight coputer operator positions (our present staffing level in
remote DACs). This will save approximately $200,000 in personal
services annually. In addition substantial savings in
of which can a e est mate y e Office of Ccsmaunications.
For all tenants in the new building (ODP included), we
estimate a cost avoidance of approxisately $2,000 per new
teryinal installation resulting from the elimination of the need
to '1T? P T such terminals and provide for their optical
isolation.
4. Less tangible savings but very real benefits accrue tram
the improved reliability in the delivery of computer services to
a single building. Also, our responsiveness in servicing
terninal problems can he improved significantly as a result.
