Currently FBIS is identifying personnel for assignment to the U.S. Interests Section in Havana. F-1 Ambassador Smith in Ghana asked FBIS to continue to report promptly anti-U.S. broadcasts over the Accra radio. The Ambassador has been receiving these transcripts by teletype from the FBIS bureau in Abidjan. On 4 February Ambassador Matheron and the FBIS 25X1 bureau chief, met with the deputy prime minister who officially welcomed FBIS to Swaziland and indicated his full support. The deputy prime minister said the Swazi Government took a long time deciding to allow FBIS to establish a bureau in Mbabane because the Swazis "had not wanted to let in something that would have to be sent out right away." The Swazi official noted that his government is very interested in the FBIS product. (FBIS ms items available to governments that are host to FBIS bureaus.)aket 25X1 Within the next several weeks FBIS will move into a structure which has been purchased to house the operation. An Agency logistics officer is scheduled to arrive in Mbabane around 1 March to assist in setting up. The Swazi Foreign Ministry is assisting FBIS with legal - calities on obtaining title to the property. Meanwhile, 25X1 has been in contact with the FBIS engineer in Mbabane concerning communi- cations and test channel checks have already been exchanged. The circuit will be commerr a1 between Mbabane and Pretoria, then by SKYLINK to Headquarters. 25X1 Arnti-terrorism Effort FBIS is continuing to support other Agency offices in the effort against terrorism. The film is being prepared for viewing by foreign immigration services to describe terrorist travel methods and dramatizes the use of OTS tools for their detection. $IS staff linguists at Headquarters are working on the project. FBIS Material on El Salvador The State Department frequently quotes FBIS material in connection with the El Salvador situation. During the past week Assistant Secretary Enders noted in a telegram to the U.S. Embassy an FBIS report from a press agency that quoted Defense Minister Garcia as stating that "elections might not be the solution to the Salvadoran problem." The telegram asked the Embassy to tell Garcia that his comments were "most unhelpful." USSR Publications The U.S. Government's ban, on 5 January, of Aeroflot flights into the United States has had no effect on FBIS receipt of Soviet publications.
