Central American Remote
The FBIS bureau in Panama has been covering local radios of four
Central American countries--El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, and
Nicaragua--from broadcasts relayed over ccnnnercial circuits from. the U.S.
embassies in those countries. This system has been constantly improved
over the past two years. A 4-wire line now connects the bureau with
Managua and San Salvador which enables the bureau to tune and record radios
in the embassies by remote control. A second 4-wire line is now being
installed between the bureau and our embassies in Guatemala City/
Libya, and enable the bureau to cover Cairo television.

Creek Coverage
FBIS has initiated a voice landline from Kili, in Western Cyprus,
to its bureau in Nicosia. This provides improved year-round coverage
of the domestic broadcasts of Greece. The antenna site at Kili and the
line are leased from the Cyprus Telecom nmications Authority. The bureau
anticipates that the site will also improve radio coverage of Tripoli,
