1. SIGNIFICANCE: A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN AIR DEFENSE
ACTIVITY WAS OBSERVED AROUND AL AIM SUPERPHOSPHATE
FERTILIZER PLANT ON IMAGERY (SWN)
2. REMARKS: FOUR SA-3 SITES (THREE OCCUPIED), ONE SA-3 SAM
SUPPORT FACILITY, AND 33 ANTIAIRCRAFT ARTILLERY SITES (14
NOT ON GRAPHIC) HAVE BEEN DEPLOYED AROUND THIS FERTILIZER
PLANT (GRAPHIC 1). THIS PLANT
PRODUCES MONO- AND DI-AMMONIUM PHOSPHATE, SUPERPHOSPHATE,
AND TRIPOLYPHOSPHATE. THE PLANT CONTAINS A URANIUM
EXTRACTION SECTION ON ITS WEST SIDE. A LARGE UNIDENTIFIED
BUNKER IMMEDIATELY WEST OF THE CHEMICAL PLANT IS SEPARATELY
SECURED BY A DOUBLE FENCE AND FOUR GUARD TOWERS (GRAPHIC
2). ONE OCCUPIED, THREE-POSITION LIGHT ANTIAIRCRAFT SITE
IS ON TOP OF THE BUNKER. (SwN)
