PLESETSK ICBM LAUNCH TEST SITE 23, USSR
1. SIGNIFICANCE: SS-X-25 MOBILE ICBM LAUNCH PREPARATIONS ARE IN
PROGRESS. (SWN)
2. REMARKS: A CAMOUFLAGED PROBABLE SS-X-25 ICBM
TRANSPORTER-ERECTOR-LAUNCHER (TEL) IS ON THE APRON EXTENSION
NEXT TO THE OPEN SILO AND THE TYPE C SINGLE-BAY GARAGE. THE
CAMOUFLAGE, WHICH IS SUSPENDED FROM SUPPORT POLES, ALSO COVERS
THE APRON EXTENSION AND THE POESIELE AZIMUTH ALIGNMENT DEVICE.
TWO PROBABLE SS-X-25 ASSOCIATED VEHICLES ON BOTH SIDES OF THE
TURNING RADIUS NEAR THE SILO APRON APPROACH ARE ALSO
CAMOUFLAGED. THE EXTENSIVE CAMOUFLAGE OF THE PROBABLE TEL, AND
THE ASSOCIATED VEHICLES, PRECLUDES POSITIVE IDENTIFICATION AND
DETERMINATION OF THE SI2.E AND CONFIGURATION OF THE PROBABLE
SS-X-25 MOBILE ICBM EQUIPMENT. (SWN)
IN RELATED ACTIVITY, A PROBABLE SUPPORT VEHICLE IS ON THE SILO
APRON AT COLLOCATED PLESETSK ICBM LAUNCH TEST SITE 24
WHERE THE SILO DOOR IS ALSO OPEN. (SWN)
THE SS--X-25 IS ONE OF THE TWC NEW SOLID PROPELLANT ICBM
CURRENTLY UNDERGOING TESTING AT PELSETEK. THE LAST LAUNCH OF
AN ES-X--25 FROM PLESETSK OCCURRED (DEFEMAC
E/DQ/242-84, 213152, 26 MAR 84). ( S
