1. SIGNIFICANCE: THE SOVIET-BUILT DR-3 TACTICAL RECONNAISSANCE
DRONE SYSTEM IS IDENTIFIED AT AN OPERATIONAL BASE IN SYRIA.
(SWN)
SYRIA AT TARTUS PORT FACILITIES
END OF THE AIRFIELD. THE DR-3 SYSTEM WAS FIRST IDENTIFIED IN
DRONES HAVE ARRIVED AT THIS AIRFIELD
ONE PROBABLE DR-3 TRANSPORTER-ERECTOR-LAUNCHER
AND THREE PROBABLE DR-3 TRANSLOADERS/RESUPPLY VEHICLES ARE ON
THE APRON OF A REVETTED DOUBLE-BAY AIRCRAFT SHELTER AT THE EAST
THIS IS THE FIRST IDENTIFICATION OF THIS SYSTEM AT AN
APPROXIMATELY 20 NEW DRIVE-IN REVETMENTS HAVE BEEN CONSTRUCTED
AROUND THE PERIMETER OF THE AIRFIELD THE
DEPLOYMENT OF THE SA-8 BATTERY AND THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW
REVETMENTS MAY BE RELATED TO THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE DR-3 SYSTEM
AT THIS AIRFIELD. (SWN)
ME22E AIRFIELD IS THE HEADQUARTERS FOR THE SYRIAN AIR FORCE AND
SUPPORTS AN AIR TRANSPORT BRIGADE AND ELEMENTS OF AN AIR
ASSAULT BRIGADE. IT IS APPROXIMATELY 4 NM WEST-SOUTHWEST OF
DAMASCUS AND 12 NM SOUTHEAST OF THE SYRIA-LEBANON BORDER. (SWN)
OPERATIONAL BASE OUTSIDE THE WARSAW PACT. (SWN)
ELEMENTS OF A PROBABLE SA-8 BATTERY HAVE DEPLOYED TO THE WEST
END OF THE AIRFIELD IN ADDITICN,
