1. SIGNIFICANCE: THE INITIAL DELIVERY OF HIND ASSAULT/GUNSHIP
HELICOPTERS TO MOZAMBIQUE IS IDENTIFIED. (SWN)
2. REMARKS: EIGHT HIND FUSELAGE SHIPPING CONTAINERS AND NINE HIND
COMPONENT SHIPPING CONTAINERS ARE AT THE HELICOPTER ASSEMBLY
ASSOCIATED HANGAR ON THE WEST SIDE OP TPF ATRPT THE HIND
PROBABLY ARRIVED IN MOZAMBIQUE EIGHT
POSSIBLE AIRCRAFT SHIPPING CONTAINERS WERE ON THE QUAY AT
MAPUTO PORT FACILITIES NEAR A SOVIET
KOMMUNIST-CLASS MERSHIP THIS SHIPMENT OF HIND
CONTINUES SOVIET EFFORTS TO UPGRADE THE MOZAMBIQUE AIR FORCE.
THE SOVIETS HAVE DELIVERED FISHEED FIGHTERS AND HIP HELICOPTERS
TO MOZAMBIQUE SINCE APRIL 1983. (SWN)
MAPUTO AIRFIELD IS A JOINT MILITARY/CIVILIAN FIELD 35 NM EAST
OF THE MCZAMBIQUE-SOUTH AFRICA BORDER. (SWN)
