SUBJECT: Intelligence Briefings for Senator Nunn
1. During your recent meeting with Senator Nunn, you invited
Senator Nunn to come to the Agency for update briefings. In addition to any
areas you had in mind, the following are listed as areas that would be of
interest to Senatot? Nunn during his visit now scheduled for the morning of
27 September 1982:
I. Soviet Area
A. Soviet Defense Spending-a brief perspective and prediction
B. Soviet Military Capabilities-strengths and weaknesses-
(including views on technological sophistication of Soviet
weapon systems).
C. Soviet Economy-strengths and weaknesses
D. Soviet Satellites-strengths and weaknesses
E. Soviet Leadership Succession
F. Soviet Strategic Nuclear Forces to include modernization
capabilities, accuracy, hardness, and
G. Soviet Record in Arms Control Compliance
II. Regional Intelligence Updates
A. Middle East
B. Asia
C. Other World Problem Areas to include Afghanistan and Poland

2. He has blocked out from 8:00-11:00 a.m. to deal with these subjects.
