SUBJECT: 14 December Briefing of Senate Select Committee on Intelligence
on the Intermediate Nuclear Forces (I NF) Negotiations
1. On 14 December 1982 of the
Arms Control Intelligence staff and omerix, too part in a
briefing on the Intermediate Nuclear Forces INF negotiations in Geneva.
Paul Nitze, chief negotiator, was the principal briefer. Rear Admiral
Jonathan Howe, Director and Robert Dean, Deputy Director, Bureau of
Politico - Military affairs, State Department accompanied Ambassador Nitze.
2. Senator Daniel P. Moynihan (D., NY) presided in the absence of
Chairman Barry M. Goldwater. Senators present for all or a portion of the
briefing were:
