1. On Monday, 2 August 1982, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee (SFRC)
was briefed by CIA, DIA and Department of State representatives on the current military
and political situation in El Salvador, prior to Committee hearings that will bes held on
the Presidential certification on El Salvador. The room, 5-116, The Capitol, was swept
and the brief~'n~m?n~ed throughout. A transcript was taken. The briefing was at the
