SUBJECT: .delilson-Terpil Hearings
REFERENCE: EA 82-0063/6, 8 February 1982 (attached).
1. Mike O'Neil, HPSCI Chief Counsel, called recently on behalf
of Representative Romano Mazzoli (D., KY.),' asking to be supplied with
copies of the legislative remedy proposals the Agency is "toying" with
.re the Wilson-Terpil problem. Mike cited a dialogue between Mazzoli
and the General. Counsel at the 2 February hearing where--allegedly--
Mr. Sporkin promised to provide Mazzoli with legislative proposals.
I personally do not recall any such promise but do recall Mazzoli
suggesting five specific areas of concern he would like to see incor--.
porated into any legislative remedies that are crafted. (Reference,
attached) The transcript from the. hearing should be consulted with
a view to determining whether any such promise was made.
2. Please advise as to whether any legislative drafts are
available to pass along to Mazzoli via O'Neil. O'Neil noted that
the Committee is anxious to have the proposals in preparation for
.further hearings, as yet unscheduled.
