SUBJECT: Processing Weekly Report for
Week Ending 26 May 1981
1. Systems Availability: Attached is the Systems
Availability Report.
2. CLS. The CLS Administrator briefed OCR on PANVALET/-
PANEXEC. OCR expressed interest in using PANVALET to store their
source programs, and will be contacting CLS in regard to becoming
STAT PANVALET users.

3. The monthly Insurance Trial Balance report has been
converted from 360/20 produced screen line paper to Xerox 9700
output. Processing time was reduced by 4 hours and paper costs
STAT were reduced by 85%.
6. On Monday, 18 May, the contractor began installing the
raised floor in the SAFE Computer Center. Expected completion date
4. Procedures were implemented in the DBCC to handle
C Divisions requirements for processing overnight BATCHGIM2
programs that access GIMPRODUCTION data bases. These new
procedures became necessary with the implementation of ACF2
rules which protect GIMPROD data sets from unauthorized users.
The new procedures involve C Division spooling jobs to the DBCC
via VM and DBCC submitting these jobs under the proper ACF2
STAT authority and control.
5. A full cross check of the STAR data base was performed
on Sunday, 24 May and Monday 25 May.

8. CEMB and Amdahl uncablecalbe 470/V6 in GC-03 and move
machine to GC-47 on Saturday, 30 May and Sunday 31 May.

9. Comten 3 3690 has been installed with no problems. This
completes the 3690 installations in the Ruffing Center. There are
now five 3690 units in production in the Ruffing Center.
10. An additional Channel Interface is being installed in
Comten 6 and 8 in the Special Center. This is to support VM in
STAT the Special Center.
11. A fair week for applications availability was
experienced in the Ruffing Center. Wednesday, AEGIS lost two
hours due to OCR errors in allocating disk storage. JES lost
82 minutes Friday due to a hardware failure in the interface
between the Global and Local computers. A failure in an
uninterruptable power supply (UPS) during an UPS test on Saturday
cost JES three hours and 40 minutes, TADS four and a half hours,
and VM six hours. The Versatec plotter again suffered several
failures during the week and was down at the end of this reporting
STAT period.
12. The Special Center had a generally good week. NIPS lost
three hours Thursday due to a SPD problem with sign-on software.
CAMS lost 87 minutes Saturday morning due to the same UPS failure
that affected the Ruffing Center at a time when the CAMS backup
CPU was not available. STAR lost an hour Saturday due to an error
in performing T-Bar switching.

All systems, with the exception of OCR-COLTS, reported
above the goal of 96 percent for the week. OCR-COLTS had
a 10 minute software error, and a procedural problem updating
a catalog which resulted in a 2 hour outage.
