Systems Availability: Attached is the Systems Availability Report. :a 2. The software to interface the OGSR high speed plotter STAT STAT 3. An enhanced version of the ODP OS6 software supporting the IBM 6670 laser printer has been installed. This version supports the advanced functions of the latest 6670 microcode, and allows magnetic cards to be read in the VM spool. STAT 4. Final drawings of the Control Point/Office area for the new SAFE Computer Center were revised and presented to the Head- quarters Engineering Branch. Construction on this area is scheduled for Janaury 1982. the date this system is expected to be operational. Center is planned for Saturday, 13 June. Saturday, 20 June is an Isolator in Room 503 and completion L01 the Grid System. 6. Installation of the Amdahl 470/V6 from the Ruffing 5. ODP/Engineering and the Office of Communications completed a survey for installation of the IBM 6670 in Ames Building for ORD. OC indicated this system can be installed after the installation of IBM 370/168-1 OCR online processor. 7. Operations has received favorable comments from OCR users on the improved response time of all OCR applications. Technicians from OSO began setting up equipment on the IBM Model 360/20 printer for emanation testin scheduled to begin Monday 8 June, for two or three days. be installed for Production use on 13 June. 10. A 72-hour test of MPS was conducted on 2-4 June and a full Production Test was conducted on 6-7 June. No major problems have surfaced on the MPS side, but CDS is experiencing a line problem between themselves and Datex which may seriously affect throughput. If the CDS problem can be resolved, MPS will 11. Cable Processing. A change was made the night of 7 June STAT which caused incoming traffic to be flushed from the system. SPD corrected the error on 8 June, but several hundred' cables will have to be retransmitted. 12. GIMPROD was moved to the 3033 (SY4) over the weekend of 6 June. SY4 will be the primary CPU for GIMPROD with SY1 as its backup. This will provide an increase in CPU power fJr GIMPROD. STAT STAT STAT 13. The Ruffing Center had a good week, but all systems had some problems. Friday morning JES, Batch, and GIMS were halted due to a problem with a Telex disk controller--the outages ranged from 15 to 45 minutes. OCR applications all lost an hour Monday at startup when a Comten was found left disabled after maintenance had been completed on it. That evening TADS failed due to a pro- blem in CDC equipment, causing several disk drives to lose power. Tuesday the MP1 failed, causing degraded VM operations much of the day. 8. The IBM 3033-MP system began acceptance testing on 14. The Special Center had a fair week with problems on all systems. TPNIPS lost 90 minutes on Saturday when a Telex disk drive failed.
