I. Major Activities During the Past Week: (U)
A. Support to the DCI (U)
(U) DCITASK - Automation of two tasks for the DCI.
TASK II, automation of a scheduling system for the DCI
is complete. All pro rams were. transferred to GIM
Production system.
B. Support to OGCR (U)
1. (U) CARTDEV - Developmental support to the
Cartographic Division. The test results, from
a subset of the major grid for analyzing the
line-of-sight capabilities for a given terrain,
were delivered to the customer. This work is
supporting a request to OGCR from the Department
of State to evaluate the U.S. Forest Service
computer program (TOPAS).
2. (U) AGMET - Spring wheat prediction system. We
have completed the development of a procedure
which will allow testing of the AGMET agricultural
zone model using historical data.
C. Support to ODP (U)
(U) MODEL - Mathematical modeling, simulation, and
game theory. An algorithm for a spectral test of the IBM
random number generator's statistical properties defining
randomness has been develo ed. Additional test algorithms
are being developed.

E. Support to Comptroller (U)
(U) PAS - Survey of intelligence production publications
to determine the value of collection sources. An interim
system for PAS has been delivered to the customer for
testing. This data base is managed by NIPS and will
replace the Automated Support for the Information Require-
ments Staff system.
F. Support to OP (U)
(U) PERSIGN - Integrated Personnel Information System.
Activity continues on 21 tasks and has started on two new
ones, (CENQUAL - personnel qualifications, and PERSHOSP/
PERINSUR - hospitalization and insurance sub projects).
Some of the specific high-lighted areas are:
Completed the definition of input data elements
for 31 personnel actions. This completes the
field definition by Type of Action for now.
Unit Test walk-throughs of the GIMS file
definitions for PERSIGN and related major files
uncovered some minor discrepancies in the data
element description.
? A unit test walk-through on one of the COMVAD
(common validation dictionary) GIM procedures
was successful.
? We have completed final write ups on REVIEW
procedures, purpose, and number of reviews
required for each major system development
module. Of the five reviews (which included
requirements, design, specifications, test, and
acceptance review), three have been completed
and the other two are being written.
G. Support to OF (U)
(U) GAS - General Accounting System. The new GIM
4.0 update statements were applied to the GAS data base.
This required extra effort because we were not able to
apply these until after Version 4.0 came up.
(U) Corrected problems connected with processing
Schedule D accountings using IV Phase Version 3 software.

H. Support to OS (U)
(U) SACS - Security Access Control System. We made
the necessary alterations to the CENBAD data base and
CENBAD PL/1 programs to change the Access Validity code
from a two character attribute to a 12 character variable
attribute. This will allow controlled access to buildings
and special centers other than just Headquarters.
I. Support to OCR (U)
(U) OCRDIR - Automation of the OCR directories. For
the OCR directory of the Peoples' Republic of China we
have completed loading the second of three protions into
the GIMS development system. This directory is expected
to be published in late August 1977.
II. Problems: (U)
Support to OF (U)
(U) GAS - General Accounting System. A block of 10
records were dropped during the backup of our Monthly
Transaction File. This file is input to the Monthly
Status of Allotment Update and the Monthly Status of
Allotment Reports. This required research effort on our
part to identify the problem and a rerun by Production
of the Update and Reports.
Support to OP (U) 25X1A
(U) PERSIGN - Integrated Personnel Information
System. The PERSIGN I production system has had program
failures since last Thursday. It appears as if some
changes were not adequately tested. We are investigating
and are on top of the situation.
