MEMORANDUM FOR: Director, ODP
4 August 1977
FROM . STATINTL
Deputy Director for Processing
SUBJECT Processing Weekly Report
Tasks Accomplished
1. The EDB3 (GIM work space) data set for the CAMS system was
moved from a 2314 to a 2301 drum on 28 July. CAMS has been expe-
riencing much better response time and increased throughput. We
are trying to determine if this improvement is strictl a result
of moving EDB3 or if other factors are involved.

2. A successful test of JES3 was run during. this past weekend
starting on Friday. However, we were unable to install the new
version of JES (System A) because of multiple errors. These
errors have been corrected and a mid-week test has been scheduled
for System A. - STATINTL
STATINTL 3. Implementation of Version 3 operating system has been
completed on the IV Phase Key-to-Disk Data Entry System at Key
Building. This version will enhance operator response time,
permit data entry and verification to be performed simultaneously
within the same batch being input, and provide better statistical
reports.
Tasks Planned
A three hour full center test of MVS/JES3 will be conducted
from 0400-0700 hours on Thursday, 4 August 1977. The test is
needed to identify problem areas that may be encountered during
the 64 hour production test scheduled to begin at. 0600 Friday,
5 August and continuing to 2200 Sunday, 7 August 1977'.
Problems
1. Master file update reports were delayed by one day because
of a program bug in the new version, which was broken into three
parts. Applications programmers fixed the program on Friday and
PCB/PD completed the reports Saturday at 0400. The impact was
fourteen hours of overtime for PCB personnel, and OF had to balance
the system on Saturday, 30 July 1977.

STATINTL 2. On Friday, 29 July 1977 at 0755, a storage check was
received on the IBM 360/65-1. CAMS was switched to the back-
up 370 Blue system at 0930 and remained there until 0115 when
the application was switched back to the 360/65-1. During
this time frame, -replaced two blown fuses in the converter
for Frame 1 of their core and ran storage diagnostics to ensure
the integrit of the system. No cause was found for the blown
STATINTL fuses.
3. Problems have been encountered running work for OD&E
under MVS. This mode of operation is necessary because of the
large storage requirement of the jobs. Progress has been made
towards eliminating several of the problems; however, the runs
still must be scheduled for MVT. This may impact JES3 test
and/or production.
