SUBJECT: Critical Operational Nee a for Word
processing Equipment in
Latin America Division
1. Reference your memorandum to me, subject as above,
dated 28 May 1981. IMS has reviewed your request for word
processing equipment in We readily
recognize the validity of your requirement and are taking
action to obtain the necessary equipment for you as soon
as possible.
2. My staff has prepared written justification for
10 single station Lanier model LTE-3 word processors: four
dual disk units with printers, four single disk units with
printers, and two single disk units with shared printer
options. However, due to budgetary limitations, we are
requesting that only five systems be acquired (leased) at
this time. We will request the remaining five units whenever
funds become available.
3. We are hopeful that we can arrange for delivery of
this equipment by the end of this month. In the meantime,
we have made available two systems on loan from SE Division.
