The five-day session will open with a full day devoted to the topic "Public Admin- istration and Collective Bargaining: Con- cepts and Practices Undergoing Change and Changing Concepts," and will conclude with special seminar sessions on labor relations covering bargaining tactics and strategy in governments and bilateral. management in government. Newland, Professor of Public Admin- istration, University of Southern California Organization Development- Theories and Technologies A workshop designed to enhance partici- pant understanding of the theories and technologies pertinent to organization devel- opment (OD) as they have emerged from behavioral science learning. Content What is OD? The literature and language of OD The interaction between behavioral science theory and OD activities The practice of OD including: - diagnostic studies and surveys - planned interventions in training, team building, intergroup problem solving and relations, data feedback and process analysis The applications and impact of OD in the public sector Participants, program, and resource con- sultants (both academicians and practi- tioners) and a trainer will be brought to- gether for orientation and exploration into the field of organization development through discussions, experiential exercises, and case studies. Motivation Management: - Helps you recognize successes you have had in your adult life - Facilitates feedback on strengths you have demonstrated in achieving successes and shows how to build an analysis of your personal power base - Provides a method for analyzing ob- stacles you must overcome in achieving the goals you have set for yourself - Enables you to practice the process of setting realistic goals, estimating the pay- offs you see in their achievement, dealing with success or failure in meeting the goal, and evaluating the payoffs actually received The work is done in small groups of five, allowing time for a great deal of interaction.
