MEMORANDUM FOR: Deputy Director for Support
SUBJECT : 1966 Conference for University Associates
The time has come for us to begin planning the 1966 Conference for
the University Associates which has been traditionally held in the Fall
after "school is open" and. the campuses have settled back into routine.
We're having the Recruiters' Conference in late September and a
Personnel Officers' Conference in mid-October and believe that November 2
(Wednesday) through November 4 (Friday) would be good dates for the
Associates' Conference. They would convene in time for dinner Wednesday
night; we haven't planned the rest of the agenda yet.
As you know, the Associates especially appreciate the opportunity to
talk with the Director under relaxed circumstances. For this reason, we
hope that he can at least participate in the dinner whether or not he has
time on the calendar for another meeting with them.
Although the dinner was held at Emmett's mhome last year, this is not a
tradition. The previous year they were "entertained" by Lyman Kirkpatrick.
If the Director should be free to extend an invitation to them for dinner
at his residence this year, I think it would be much appreciated. May we
ask you to suggest this possibility to the Director at such time as you
deem appropriate -- if you agree, of course.

might want to consider yourself or Colonel White as possible hosts if the
Director cannot commit himself to this engagement.
