Yesterday, O/ExDir,
phoned to ask about the status of action taken
in accordance with Col. White's memo for DD/S,
dated 30 Aug 66, regarding requests for Agency
speakers. (Col. White had inquired.)
I talked with I nd then advised
Barbara that DD/S had a meeting with
E and representatives from DD/S&T, DD/I,
OS, and OTR on 26 Sept 66. It was the general
opinion that the current procedures 0 are
adequate. Mr. Bannerman requested DD/I and
DD/S&T to identify at least five officers each who
can be added to the roster of speakers for use in
complying with requests for Agency speakers.
I also told Barbara that DD/S plans to reply in
writing to Col. White when this action was completed.
(To date, DD/I and DD/S&T have not replied.)
I honed this morning (9:35 a.m.)
to advise that Col. White plans to have a meeting with
Mr. Helms on 20 Oct re this sub j . If possible, they
would like to have a re v (to the 30 Aug memo) by
17 Oct 6 for Col. White's use in the meeting with
the Director.
I had told you I would be glad
to follow-up with DD/I and DD/S&T. I have not yet
done so but, in view of Sally's request, do you want
