1. This memorandum is for information only and is
a periodic progress report as requested in reference.

4. The VEPCO Systems Engineer at Richmond has not
yet given us his recommendations and approval of the
scheme of operation which was proposed by Mr. Suter
(General Electric Engineer) for the 2-2000 KW emergency
generators in the main powerhouse. Also, GE design and

construction group has not provided us with a cost esti-
mate of the scheme. We will keep in close touch with
VEPCO and GE so that we can continue with our planning.
5. The OC has indicated that it is not their
intention that this project be funded from FY 1966 funds,
but we will continue our research and planning to develop
a satisfactory solution as soon as possible.

MEMORANDUM FOR: Director of Logistics
SUBJECT : Emergency Power for Agency Headquarters Facilities
On 24 March you reported the results of tests on the emergency
power supply at the Headquarters. Building. The report indicated a number
of problem areas and cited action being taken. The seriousness of a power
failure accompanied by the deficiencies noted in our emergency power system
cannot be overstated. It is therefore requested that you keep me advised at
not to exceed intervals of two weeks on progress in this connection.
