An exact method of calculating the laminar boundary-
layer velocity distributions for discontinuously vari-
able suction velocities in incompressible steady flow
is presented. The method is applicable to arbitrary
exwrnal pressure distributions. In essence, the
method consists in setting up a series expansion for
the stream function applicable near the surface,

A discussion is given an the extent of protection a
patent must have to be in the interest of the inventor
or how far It may be In the Interest of the public. The
principles according to which the German infringe-
ment courts today determine the extent of protection
of a patent correspond to the interests of chemical
Industry. The extent of protection should first be
determined in the infringement process. The examt-
notion of a general Inventive Idea, made valid In an
Infringement process. relative to patentability, should
be left to the patent office. (Author) (An address give OM-.f T-W-1 S--
