Gambino Director of Security SUBJECT: Office of Security Significant Activities Week of 20 May 1977 REFERENCE: DDA Administrative Instruction No. 74-5 1. This memorandum is for infor tion only. 2. The activities of the Office of Security during the week of 20 - 26 May 1977 were highlighted by the following items: a. On 20 May, one Jozef Sniecinski., a Polish citizen visiting a brother in the United States, arrived at Gate 3 with an offer to sell a Russian document dealing with Unidentified Flying Objects. The man's business card identified him as Editor-in-Chief of a scientific digest in Warsaw. Mr. Sniecinski's offer was refused. b. During the reporting period 25X1A afforded b the Office of Security 25X1A to the "60 Minutes" p m as progressed basis and the first day's film has been processed and---I returned to Headquarters. The last shipment is scheduled for 27 May. c. On 23 May, two staff members of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence were indoctrinated for access to sensitive compartmented information. d. On 24 May, security support was afforded the Director of Central Intelligence in connection with an appearance at a hearing held by the House Armed Services Committee, Intelligence Subcommittee. f. On 24 May, the Office of Security received a letter of appreciation from the Assistant Director for Installations and Logistics at the National Security Agency (NSA), relative to briefings given the NSA Safety Program Review Committee on the CIA Safety and Health Program. NSA is attempting to strengthen their safety program and sought our assistance. h. Gambino Director of Security SUBJECT: Office of Security Significant Activities Week of 13 May 1977 REFERENCE: DDA Administrative Instruction No. 74-5 1. This memorandum is for information only.. 2. The activities of the Office of Security during the week of 13 - 19 May 1977 were highlighted by the following items: a. The Office of Security was advised on 13 May that the Washington, D. C. home of the Deputy Director of Science and Technology had been burglarized.- An, Office representative along with a -member of the Security Management Staff/DDSF,T, responded to lend assistance, advice, and guidance. It was determined that nothing was taken. b. On 16 May representatives of the Office of Security and Office of SIGINT Operations (OSO), DDS&T met to develop specifications to govern armorin and presented to the Armoring Focal Point Officer, Office,-of Security, Department of State. This officer is to begin visits to private companies with resources to manufacture armor to determine the feasibility of meeting the proposed specifications.. C. During the reporting period the Office of Security prepared a study on eleven recent unauthorized disclosure cases for review by staff members of the Security rSubc.ommittee., Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. `Tae compilation illustrates the gravity of unauthorized disclosures in a format which will facilitate briefing of subcommittee members. e. Two Office of Security representatives are currently participating in the debriefing'of Mr. Christopher J. Boyce in Los Angeles. 3. Projected Office of Security activities-for the week of 20 May 1977 of possible interest at the Directorate level include: a. On 20 May the eight Office of Security repre- sentatives and one Communications Security Officer enrolled in the Survey and Personnel Prot:ecti 25X1A currently being held will be addressed by LITU , uca ion and raining S ff f ta , O fice of Security, Department of State. Under discussion will be the Department of State's security program, as it functions domestically and abroad, and as it relates to the overseas security program of this Agency. b.
