You are invited to nominate a staff member from your organiza-
tion for special recognition during Engineers Week. A similar
invitation is being extended to other organizations having engin-
eeringj, architectural or scientific activities in the Metropolitan
Washington area, Three young professional men, one architecto one
applied scientist, and one engineer will be honored on Friday!
21 February 1958, as part of the contribution of the D. C. Council
of Engineering and Architectural Societies to the nationwide
observance of Engineers Week. Nominations must be received no
later than 10 January 1958.
The major, objective of the program is the development of a
professional and public awareness of the contributions made by
younger members of these professions and a stimulation of interest
in the engineering! architectural and scientific areas by young
people who are preparing for a professional career. It is hoped
that this increased awareness c the part of young people in
high school and college will result in an increased supply of

'Nominees for special recognition during Engineers' Week must meet the
following criteria:
Age: 35 years or younger as of. February 21, 1958-
Sex: Open to both men and women.
limitation on Number:
Each organization, issued an invitation may nominate one person. Previous
award winners are ineligible for nomination.
Location:
Must be employed within the Washington metropolitan area, defined as within
a radium of 30 miles from the White House.
Profession :
Must be an engineer or architect by college training, or an applied scientist
(physical scientist) or mathematician by training engaged in the application
of scientific knowledge). Present field may be research, development, design,
administration, or other field appropriate for an engineer, architect, or
applied scientist, regardless of present official title. Military or civilian
nominees are invited.
Achievement:
A single notable achievement, or a notable professional career.
Four items are to be submitted in support of the nomination of a person
meeting the above criteria:
(1) Basic Personal Information:
Name and date of bin , title, organization, business address, sex,
high school and college attended and degrees.
(2) Descri tion of Present Duties:
Describe concisely in not more than one-half single-spaced type-
written page.
(3) Description of Achievement or Notable Career:
Preferably one single-spaced typewritten page, not more than two
pages. Should be expressed in terminology understandable to those
not engaged in the area of specialty.
(4) Photograph:
To be used for publicity of various types, such as press releases,
a lobby display of nominees and winners. Preferably should show
the nominee engaged in his professional work. Must be glossy
prints, 5 x 7 inches, 2 copies.
Nominations must be received no later than Thursday,, 'January 10, 1957.
