You are invited to nominate a staff member from your organization
for special recognition during Engineers' Week.
A similar invitatijn is being extended to other organizations
having engineering, architectural or scientific activities in the
Metropolitan Washington area. Three young professional men, one
architect, one applied scientist, and one engineer, will be honored .
on Wednesday, February 21, 1962, as part of the contribution of the
Do Co Council of Engineering and Architectural Societies and the
Washington Academy of Sciences to the nation-wide observance of
Engineers' Week. Nominations must be received.no later than
January 15, 19620
The major objective of the program is the development of a profes-
sional and public awareness of the contributions made by younger
members of these professions and a stimulation of interest in the
engineering, architectural and scientific areas by young people
who are preparing for a professional career. It is hoped that this
increased awareness on the part of young people in high school and
college will result in an increased supply of young competent
personnel into our professions.
Attached is a sheet outlining the criteria for nominations. The
award to each of the three winners will consist of a suitably
engraved gold key, known as the National Capital. Award, and a
certificate, to be presented during a luncheon to be held on Wed-
nesday, February 21, 1962, at the Presidential Arms.
Sincerely,
I
