Gates Deputy Director for Intelligence SUBJECT: DDI Activity Report, 15 November - 19 November 1982 DCI/DDCI-Assigned Tasks EURA is preparing a typescript, to be completed next week, on the impact of Armenian terrorism on Turkey's domestic political situation and on its relations with Western Fi irnne OGI prepared talking points and background material on foreign R&D challenges to the United Sates for the DCI's participation at the 19 November Cabinet meeting. At the request of the DCI, OGI briefed Kenneth R. Giddens, consultant to the Department of State for radio broadcasting to Cuba, on Cuban reaction to Radio Marti. Of Special Interest This Week ALA conducted a two-day seminar on Mexico under de la Madrid. Specialists from business, academia, and government presented their views. NESA prepared a typescript, The Lebanese Forces Militia, at the request of Ambassador Habib. NESA, OGI, and OSWR met with OTA officials to discuss intelligence on technology transfer to Middle Eastern countries. OGI and State Department briefed Senator William Armstrong on the subject of forced labor in the USSR and the EXPORT pipeline. Approved For Release 2007/03/03: CIA-RDP83M00914R002900050036-1 SECRET OSWR briefed the Commander-in-Chief, SAC, on future Soviet weapons systems and potential Soviet responses to MX closely-spaced basing. OSWR briefed the UN Medical Experts Group on the findings in the State Department Special Report on chemical warfare, to be released 29 November. A SOVA officer briefed the Vice President and traveled with the US delegation to Moscow for the Brezhnev funeral. Looking Ahead OEA representatives will attend the Rand-sponsored session on Chinese negotiating style on Monday. OSWR will participate in Ambassador Kirkpatrick's briefings on chemical warfare next week for the Barton Group and ASEAN nations. OSWR will brief the IG on Soviet testing that may be necessary to enhance capabilities against MX closely-spaced basing.
