DCI/DDCI-Assigned Tasks
For the DCI's trip, ALA prepared a briefing oni or passage to a senior 25X1
EURA-provided papers o in Central America and H1
on the situation NESA prepared contra utions on the current situation in the 25X1
Yemens, Libya, Lebanon, Syria, Morocco, Algeria, and Western Sahara.
ALA and EURA prepared a briefing on the Falkland Islands situation which the
DDCI presented to the NSPG on 30 April.
SOYA, assisted by the DO, has completed a paper for the DCI on non-ruling
communist parties.
Of Special Interest This Week
EURA and ALA continued as major participants in the Falkland Islands Working
Group.
NESA disseminated three typescripts on Tunisia in preparation for Prime Minister
Mzali's US visit. Geoffrey Kemp of the NSC Staff reported that the memos were "very
good'
OEA officers briefed Ambassador. Kirkpatrick this past Sunday on US-China
relations.

OSWR prepared six case studies for the SSCI on Western technology loss to the
USSR.
OSWR briefed Dr. George Keyworth, the President's Scientific Advisor, on Soviet
nuclear weapon technology.

State department's mission on chemical warfare use.
Looking Ahead
ALA will brief Congressman Larry McDonald, House Armed Services Committee,
on Nicaragua on 5 May.
EURA and SOVA will jointly sponsor a seminar 9-11 May on the policy implications
of Soviet and East European economic problems. Selected representatives of the-policy,
business and academic communities will participate.
NESA expects to have the paper on Persian Gulf security out sometime net wnP[
